Co-operative Bank of Kenya Data Engineer Jobs
Job Summary
Design, build and maintain enterprise data pipelines, data platforms and analytical datasets that support business intelligence, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making.
Ensure secure, reliable and scalable movement of structured and unstructured data across banking systems while maintaining data quality, compliance and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test and maintain batch, streaming and real-time data pipelines integrating data from approved source systems into enterprise data and AI platforms.
Build reusable data products, curated datasets and feature stores to support analytics, reporting, machine learning and AI solutions.
Implement data quality controls, reconciliation processes and validation frameworks to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency of data.
Develop and maintain metadata management, data lineage and monitoring mechanisms.
Apply data security, privacy controls, encryption standards and access management requirements in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 and organizational policies.
Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.
Ensure auditability, recovery capabilities and operational resilience of data platforms.
Collaborate with business users, data owners, analysts, architects and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective data solutions.
Implement automated testing, source control and CI/CD practices within data engineering workflows.
Support deployment and release management across development, testing and production environments.
Monitor production data pipelines, troubleshoot incidents and resolve operational defects.
Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures and support materials.
Develop ingestion and processing pipelines for unstructured data including text, documents and voice data.
Support Generative AI initiatives through development of vector database integrations and AI-ready data solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Professional certification in Data Engineering, Cloud Data Platforms, Databases, Analytics or related technologies is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum four (4) years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL/ELT Development, Database Engineering or Big Data implementations.
Proven experience building and
supporting production-grade data pipelines and analytical datasets.
Experience working within banking, financial services or other highly regulated environments is an added advantage.
Hands-on experience managing large-scale enterprise data platforms and integrations.
