Co-operative Bank of Kenya Android Engineer Jobs



Role Overview

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑quality Android applications.

  • Translate UI/UX designs into responsive, production‑ready mobile interfaces.

  • Integrate apps with backend services using REST APIs.

  • Write clean, testable, well‑documented code following SOLID principles.

  • Conduct code reviews and enforce quality, security, and performance standards.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks.

  • Implement unit, integration, and UI tests.

  • Optimize app performance, memory usage, offline capabilities, and battery consumption.

  • Manage app releases via Google Play Console.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA, and backend teams.

  • Maintain updated technical documentation and support continuous improvement.

    Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ Android development experience.

  • Expertise in Kotlin, Java, Android Studio, and Android SDK.

  • Strong knowledge of Jetpack components, Retrofit, Room, Dagger/Hilt, Coroutines, and Material Design.

  • Experience with Gradle, Firebase Cloud Messaging, push notifications, and analytics.

  • Solid understanding of MVP, MVVM, and Clean Architecture.

  • Hands‑on experience with JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.

  • Proven experience integrating apps with RESTful services.

  • Strong grasp of mobile security best practices.

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps workflows.

  • Previous experience publishing at least one Android app is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience in agile development environments.

  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
