Co-operative Bank of Kenya AI Data Architect Jobs
Job Summary]
Lead the design and governance of the Bank’s enterprise data architecture, ensuring scalable, secure and trusted data platforms that support analytics, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making.
Define target-state data architectures, standards and governance frameworks while guiding the implementation of modern data platforms, data products and enterprise-wide information management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Define the target architecture and strategic roadmap for enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, streaming architectures and data consumption layers.
Design conceptual, logical and physical data models for enterprise data products, analytics initiatives and AI use cases.
Establish data architecture standards, ownership models and quality requirements for critical data assets.
Define architecture patterns for data ingestion, storage, transformation, integration, sharing, retention, archival and deletion.
Design solutions supporting batch, streaming and real-time data processing requirements.
Collaborate with business data owners and Data Governance teams to establish common business definitions, metadata standards and authoritative data sources.
Define and maintain metadata management, data lineage, master data management and reference data frameworks.
Guide Data Engineers in building scalable, reusable and governed data products.
Ensure end-to-end traceability of enterprise data from source systems to analytics and reporting layers.
Rationalize legacy data stores and develop migration strategies toward future-state data platforms.
Integrate security classifications, access controls, privacy measures, encryption standards and resilience requirements into all data architecture designs.
Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 and enterprise information governance policies.
Review proposed data solution designs and evaluate impacts arising from source-system changes.
Represent data architecture interests within Architecture Review Boards and governance committees.
Document architectural decisions, risks, exceptions and remediation plans.
Maintain enterprise data models, architecture repositories, data catalogues and technical standards documentation.
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to Data Engineers, Data Scientists, business stakeholders and project teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
Master’s Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Professional certification in Data Management, Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture or Cloud Data Platforms is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum
seven (7) years of experience in Data Management, Data Engineering, Database Design, Analytics or Architecture.
At least three (3) years of experience in Data Architecture or a senior Data Modelling role.
Demonstrated experience designing enterprise data models and modern analytical data platforms.
Experience within banking, financial services or other highly regulated, data-intensive environments is preferred.
Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise data transformation initiatives.
