Co-operative Bank of Kenya AI & Data Architect Jobs
Job Summary
Provide strategic leadership in defining and governing the Bank’s AI and data architecture landscape to support enterprise-wide analytics, machine learning, generative AI and digital transformation initiatives.
Design scalable, secure and compliant AI-enabled architectures that align with enterprise architecture standards while supporting business growth, innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain enterprise AI and data architecture frameworks, standards, principles and strategic roadmaps.
Ensure alignment of AI and data architecture initiatives with overall enterprise architecture and business strategy.
Establish data architecture standards covering data modelling, integration, metadata management, data quality, lineage and master data management.
Design trusted and governed data products that support analytics, business intelligence and AI solutions.
Translate business requirements into end-to-end AI and data solution architectures.
Design architecture components covering data platforms, analytical models, applications, integrations, security controls, monitoring and support structures.
Develop reusable architecture patterns for Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
Establish governance frameworks, safeguards, monitoring mechanisms and human oversight controls for AI solutions.
Evaluate AI platforms, technologies, vendors and service providers based on business value, scalability, resilience, interoperability, security and cost considerations.
Define standards for model deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management, including MLOps and LLMOps practices.
Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on design decisions, risks and technology selection.
Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture governance frameworks and technical standards.
Collaborate with technology, data, security, infrastructure and business teams to resolve architectural challenges and dependencies.
Ensure solutions meet regulatory, privacy, operational, security and performance requirements.
Maintain architecture documentation, technology standards, capability maps and transformation roadmaps.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams and solution architects.
Guide AI infrastructure planning, capacity management, performance optimization and cost efficiency initiatives.
Drive scalable and sustainable AI adoption across the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science or a
related field.
Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
Professional certification in Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Data Architecture or AI Architecture is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Data Architecture, Software Architecture or Solution Architecture.
At least three (3) years of experience designing AI, Machine Learning or Advanced Analytics solutions.
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms and production-grade machine learning solutions.
Experience integrating analytical platforms and AI services into operational business applications.
Hands-on experience with Data Lakes, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses and modern data platform architectures.
Experience designing cloud-native and hybrid technology architectures.
Experience with containerized deployments, API-led architectures and event-driven integration models.
Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, telecommunications or other highly regulated industries is highly desirable.
