Concern Worldwide Livelihoods Support Officer Jobs in Kenya; The role provides support in strengthening the Orange‑Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) Value Chain through increased production and enhanced market access in Machakos County.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Support day‑to‑day implementation of agricultural livelihoods and value chain activities.
Collaborate with county government departments (Agriculture, Food Security, Cooperative Development, Water, Irrigation, Environment, Climate Change, Gender, Youth, Social Welfare).
Mobilise and engage farmer groups, producer organisations and community members.
Strengthen agricultural value chains through production, aggregation, post‑harvest management, market linkages and enterprise development.
Facilitate farmer training, demonstrations, field days, exchange visits and capacity‑building activities.
Support farmer group development in governance, record keeping, business planning and collective marketing.
Promote adoption of improved technologies, climate‑smart agriculture and good agronomic practices.
Establish and maintain relationships with value chain actors (input suppliers, extension providers, financial institutions, traders, processors).
Support data collection, farmer registration, beneficiary tracking and project databases.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, assess progress and gather feedback.
Document success stories, lessons learned, case studies and best practices.
Work with Monitoring & Evaluation team to collect, verify and
report performance data.
Organise stakeholder meetings, review forums, market linkage events and coordination meetings.
Implement approved project activities in line with work plans, budgets and donor requirements.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports highlighting achievements and challenges.
Follow up on logistical and administrative requirements for smooth field implementation.
Role Holder Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Business Management, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Social Sciences or related field.
2–3 years’ experience supporting agricultural value chains in ASAL regions.
Knowledge of Project Cycle Management and Climate‑Smart Agriculture.
Advantageous knowledge of Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Natural Resource Management, Farmer Field Schools, Making Markets Work for the Poor and Value Chains Development.
Computer skills.
Strong oral and written English.
