Concern Worldwide Country Technical Coordinator – Resilience & Durable Solutions Jobs in Kenya; Concern Worldwide has operated in Somalia since 1986, consistently setting high standards for aid delivery. This role will enable a high‑performing, decentralised team to deliver innovative, context‑appropriate solutions for crisis‑affected populations. It focuses on coaching Concern’s and partners’ Resilience and Durable Solutions Teams, strengthening leadership capacity, promoting adaptive programming, and ensuring learning and evidence guide decision‑making.


Key Responsibilities

Innovation and Decision‑Making

  • Propose innovative means for expanding the mandate and ability of front‑line staff to make strategic decisions.

  • Support design of structures and incentives for hyper‑adaptation, including budgetary flexibility.

  • Contribute to transformational changes in resilience and extreme poverty.

  • Promote Concern’s leading role in Women’s Self‑Help Groups and Early Warning Early Action.


    Communication and Influence

  • Clearly communicate complex concepts (trade‑offs, cost‑benefit analysis, cognitive bias).

  • Tell the story of innovative approaches and results in memorable ways.

  • Influence wider humanitarian practice by demonstrating new models.


    Strategic Leadership and Programme Direction

  • Provide leadership to resilience and durable solutions programming.

  • Source, develop, and test approaches to team culture and organisational change.

  • Apply systems‑thinking tools (e.g., Cynefin Framework).

  • Design hyper‑adaptive programme structures enabling decentralised decision‑making.

  • Apply human‑centred design principles.

  • Demonstrate Value for Money through area‑based impact, locally‑tailored programming, and complex systems change.


    Advocacy, Influencing, and Representation

  • Represent Concern in Nairobi, internationally, and in technical working groups.

  • Develop position papers, briefs, and advocacy messages.

  • Support visibility of programme impact to donors and partners.


    Donor Engagement and Resource Mobilisation

  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities.

  • Build and maintain strategic donor relationships.

  • Lead development of high‑quality funding proposals with flexible budgets.

  • Ensure effective donor reporting and compliance.


    Knowledge Management, Learning and Evidence

  • Document programme learning through case studies and briefs.

  • Promote evidence‑based programming and adaptive management.

  • Support research, evaluations, and learning initiatives.

  • Facilitate internal knowledge sharing across programmes.


    Coordination and Integration

  • Contribute to country programme leadership and strategic direction.

  • Support integration and collaboration across sectors.

  • Promote local ownership and partner‑led design and implementation.


    Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree or above in international development, business, sociology, anthropology, or related field.

  • Minimum 5–7 years relevant experience in aid or social impact.

  • Proven experience in programme design, portfolio management, and managing multiple teams.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to distil complex ideas.

  • Excellent emotional intelligence, empathy, and respect.

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and leadership development.

  • Experience with donor‑funded programmes (FCDO, EU, Irish Aid, World Bank, UN).

  • Strong experience working with and strengthening local partners.

  • Proven ability to represent an organisation to senior stakeholders.

  • Commitment to safety and security protocols in Somalia.

    Desirable

  • Experience working in Somalia, Horn of Africa, or similar context.

  • Experience managing relationships across complex consortium structures.

  • Experience articulating resilience, early warning, and anticipatory action.
