    Job Profile Summary

    Communications Assistant will assist the Communications Manager in the use of innovative and creative methods in technology to communicate CMA’s work.

    Communications/PR Department is developed to assist in the fundraising for all CMA projects and ministries, provide good reporting and the development of relationships.

    S/he will be able to relate and disseminate information to a Western and European audience with clarity and creative writing skills. S/he will be expected to assist in developing success stories and do follow up of the same.

    In order to perform all duties expected, s/he will need to make trips to the projects sites, have a good understanding of the organization’s ministries and vision, be creative, and committed to the cause and work of CMA. He must understand and be committed to CMA’s vision, mission and core values.

    Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Communications Manager, the Assistant will assist in the facilitation of quarterly newsletters, donor reports, brochures, magazines, appeals, press reports and the likes, including power points, stills, videos etc. to improve and expand promotional tools and publications of the organizations activities.
  • Will travel to the field locations when need be to become well acquainted with the on-going ministry activities for purposes of obtaining project information, photos, videos etc. for donor information dissemination.
  • To assist in the development of an appropriate filing system, archive system for documents, tapes, & videos and assist in the writing and implementation of policies and procedures of a management system for easy access to information and for safe keeping.
  • Will ensure donors are provided with follow up reports, human-interest stories/photos of the programs activities in which they are supporting and funding, in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Communication Manager in working in close coordination with the US & Canadian fund raisers through frequent communication, skype, emails and ensure they receive information and documents required or requested for
    their work and donor presentations in a timely manner.
  • Assist in keeping an up-to-date database on donors’ information.
  • Working collaboratively, in a team approach with Communications Manager and other CMA staff, will assist in the plans, preparations, itineraries and logistics for CMA’s donor visits, mission and work teams/volunteers coming to visit and work with CMA and will facilitate the preparation of presentations as well as displays for visiting missionaries and donors, to ensure that all visitors have CMA materials and information needed.
  • Working closely with Program Staff Team to assist in the production of high quality donor reports and other documentation as requested.
  • Edit texts, liaise with the relevant Managers to check information and format of their donor related documents to ensure they are in line with CMA guidelines.
  • Will assist in making recommendations for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Communications Department.
  • To attend and participate in the CMA weekly devotions.
  • Any other lawful duties that may be requested by the Communications Manager within the nature and scope of the position.

    Qualifications
  • University Degree in Communications, preferably in Print Media studies or Journalism.
  • Good writing skills, communication and presentation skills to enhance donors’ relations.
  • Competent IT skills and experience in the use of MS Office and Adobe suite photography, and writing for the web.
  • Basic experience in operating multimedia equipment including digital cameras, video recording equipment, and webcam and voice recorders would be an added advantage.
  • Self-motivated, with good judgment, trainable and initiative.
