Job Description

  • The Assistant Director Investigation, will be responsible to the Director, Complaints,
    Investigations and Legal Services in realising the technical and administrative functions of
    the division.

    Specific Roles and responsibilities will entail:

  • Provide strategic, professional and technical advice to the Commission on matters Investigations

  • Formulate and implement policies, strategies and guidelines for effective
    discharge of the functions of the division in accordance with the strategic goals of the Commission.

  • Initiate the development, review and implementation of strategies and guidelines on investigation;

  • Investigate complaints made by a person or group of persons on maladministration and/or violation on the access to information;

  • Investigate any conduct in state affairs, or any act or omission in public administration by any State organ, State or public officer in National and County Governments that is alleged or suspected to be prejudicial or improper or is likely to result in any impropriety or prejudice;

  • Prepare investigation reports carried out on maladministration; and

  • Maintain investigations database

  • Provide leadership and supervisory role in planning and coordinating of staff and
    the activities of the division

  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Job Specification

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Law (LLB), Arts, Criminology, Anthropology, Forensic science, Security studies, Sociology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Have a Master’s degree
    in any of the following fields: Governance, Forensic Investigations, Criminology, Anthropology, Sociology, Security studies, Law (LLM)
    or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Have a certificate in any of the following fields: interview and interrogation, report writing, crime scene management and/or security management from a recognized institution;

  • Have membership to a professional body where applicable in good standing;

  • Have a certificate in Leadership/Governance course lasting not less than four (4)
    weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Have a certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution;

  • Met the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity; and

  • Demonstrate knowledge and exposure to Administrative Justice instruments

    Successful candidates will be required to provide copies of clearance or compliance
    certificates from:


  • Kenya Revenue Authority

  • Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission

  • Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID)

  • A credit reference bureau

  • Higher Education Loans Board
