Job Summary

The Technical Assistant reports directly to the Technical Services Manager and offers technical support to HOPE FM, HOPE TV, Hope Creative and Hope Music Studio units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installations, setting up, and monitoring equipment performance of Hope Media units.
  • Ensures uninterrupted Radio and TV broadcast with high quality signals.
  • Sets up and operates portable electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other related
    transmission equipment outside the studio when necessary.
  • Offers ICT support at Hope FM, Hope TV and Hope music studio and provide ICT support to Hope Media staff.
  • Performs preventive and minor equipment maintenance, using hand tools for Hope
    Media departments.
  • Monitors strength, clarity, and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals continuously, and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts.
  • Reads and records daily meter readings for all equipment in the station and on sites.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly technical reports for Hope Media.
  • Ensure that all Hope Media equipment including s computers are in good working condition both in t and Internet connectivity.
  • Ensures Hope FM signal is functioning properly before ANY scheduled program.
  • Maintains and manages Hope FM website and social media platforms.
  • Maintains programming logs and other Communications Authority of Kenya requirements.
  • Backs up Hope Media broadcast and other relevant content.
  • Trains radio presenters, Hope FM staff and interns on how to use ICT, broadcast and production equipment.
  • Reports equipment problems to the Technical Services Manager and ensures that repairs are fixed and makes emergency repairs to equipment
    when
    necessary and possible.
  • Performs routine inspection, carrying out preventive maintenance and calibration of
    signal processors and receivers for site uplink.
  • Maintains an up to date equipment inventory.
  • Performs necessary upgrades, recommendations and research in consultation with the Technical Services Manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/HND in Telecommunication Engineering OR Electronic Engineering. Bachelors Degree is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of running of the radio production studio and or media house.
  • At least 3 years working production experience in a media house.
  • Proven interest in digital media, flexible, creative and able to work effectively in a
    diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment and meet deadlines.
  • Born again Christian, 25 – 40 years old
