Scope

  • CIPE is seeking a full-time, non-exempt, Washington, D.C. based Program and Administrative Associate for the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation. This role provides program, administrative, and research support to CIPE’s trade team and portfolio of projects, working closely with the Senior Program Officer for Operations, Deputy Director, Senior Program Officer (programs), and CIPE’s Legal Advisor for the Alliance in Washington, D.C. The position offers an excellent opportunity for interested candidates to gain exposure to international trade and development from both a programmatic and a team operations perspective. The division of responsibilities will vary but is generally expected to be split roughly 50/50 between programmatic and administrative support.

    Responsibilities

    Programmatic (50%)


  • Coordinate international travel arrangements with CIPE staff and partners, including travel authorizations, bookings, expense reports, and payments
  • Monitor project progress, maintain team files, and coordinate financial and narrative reporting to CIPE and Alliance stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Support the team’s procurement and contracting processes, including development and publication of terms of reference, coordination of proposal evaluation processes, and contract development and modification
  • Conduct country and region-specific research and report on events related to the Alliance portfolio

    Administrative/Operational (50%)

  • Work with the Senior Program Officer for Operations and the Legal Advisor to support the development and implementation of team procedures, trainings, and compliance processes
  • Provide administrative support to the Deputy Director and Senior Program Officer for Operations, including preparation of expense reports and documents for signature, and special projects as assigned
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for team meetings and events
  • Support the development and implementation of the team’s communications strategy with CIPE and Alliance stakeholders, including website content, blogs, newsletter contributions, podcasts, and social media
  • Contribute to team brainstorming on new projects and initiatives, and on creative approaches to team and project management

    4. Qualifications

  • ​​​​Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in international relations, trade, economics, business administration, public policy, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of one year of administrative office experience required. Experience supporting
    international development or public policy programs preferred
  • Interest in international business and trade, and the private sector’s role in democratic governance and economic development
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive problem solver and critical thinker
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Working proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is highly desired, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a diverse team, including with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders across multiple time zones
  • Financial acumen with the ability to develop, manage, and monitor budgets and complete financial reporting tasks
  • Strong computer skills, specifically experience working with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe
