The Project

  • The project “CHALLENGES, Support, Training and Entrepreneurship in Dessie, Ethiopia” is an integrated intervention to mitigate the main roots and consequences of illegal migration, and to improve the living conditions of the categories at greater risks exposure.

  • The project aims at supporting the reintegration of returnees and preventing the illegal depart of unskilled young migrants, while strengthening the capacities of local services targeting unemployed and vulnerable people in Dessie City Administration and Dessie Zuria, South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region.

    The Role

  • The Project Manager will be based in Dessie and he/she will report to the Country Representative in Addis Abeba; he/she will be responsible for activities’ implementation according to the Ethiopian Government and Donor guidelines and rules.

    Responsibilities

    Project Management

  • Planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising the implementation of the whole intervention and its activities, according to the project goals;

  • Ensuring the respect of the project’s action plan and budget;

  • Coordinating and supervising the project staff, according to the HR policies of the organization;

  • Coordinating project partners and constantly monitoring the proper and effective implementation of their project activities;

  • Being a focal person at field level for security according to the organization’s security policies;

  • Liaising with the local authorities at field level;

  • Ensuring a constant and punctual reporting, communication and information flow to the Country Representative on the ongoing activities;

  • Preparing the required narrative? Financial? report for the Donor and the Local Authorities;

  • Coordinating and supervising the technical data collection;

  • Ensuring the implementation of administrative and financial procedures according to the Donor guidelines and organization’s policies;

  • Handling financial planning and budget according to the activities’ implementation in order to timely submit the funds request to the Country Office;

  • Supporting the Administration on preparing the required documents for audit;
    Ensuring visibility requirements as per Donor
  • policies and collaborating with CIFA Office in Addis Ababa for the implementation of visibility actions

  • Coordinate all the logistics related to the project’s activities

    Relationships and stakeholders

  • Relationships with the local partners and authorities on project implementation;

  • Participation in cluster meetings and other coordination meetings with local or international stakeholders related to the project intervention, keeping the Country Representative informed and up-to-date.

    Job Requirements

    Requirements

  • Degree in social sciences and/or economics subjects;

  • Knowledge of the Project Cycle Management;

  • At least 5 years’ experience as project coordinator, preferably previous experience with international NGOs, in the relevant field of work;

  • Experience on job placement and economic women empowerment;

  • Experience in project monitoring;

  • Narrative and financial reporting abilities;

  • Good abilities in relationships with local and institutional partners;

  • Excellent knowledge of written and oral English is mandatory (knowledge of the language will be subject to a verification test).
