CIC Insurance Assistant Underwriter Jobs in Kenya;The Assistant Underwriter will support the acquisition and onboarding of Group Life business by preparing quotations, analysing risk information and applying approved pricing and underwriting guidelines. The role will also support reinsurance requirements, KYC/AML compliance and smooth onboarding of new business.

Key Responsibilities

Support business acquisition through timely preparation of accurate Group Life quotations for sales teams, intermediaries and direct clients.

Apply approved pricing models, rates, underwriting guidelines, delegated authority and reinsurance treaty requirements when preparing quotations.

Review member data, benefits, claims experience and other risk information to support appropriate pricing and quotation terms.

Engage Actuarial, Underwriting leadership and Senior Management on pricing exceptions, special terms and quotations outside approved parameters, obtaining required approvals before issuance.

Ensure proposed terms comply with reinsurance arrangements, including Free Cover Limits, retention limits, facultative requirements and reinsurer conditions.

Coordinate new‑business onboarding by reviewing proposal documents, member schedules, premiums and supporting requirements.

Conduct KYC/AML screening for new schemes and intermediaries, escalate exceptions and ensure compliance clearance before onboarding.

Set up and maintain complete new‑business files on the approved platform before handover to the Underwriting team.

Conduct member education, client presentations and intermediary engagements on Group Life benefits, onboarding requirements and CIC Life’s

value proposition.

Prepare quotation, production, conversion, turnaround‑time and new‑business reports; highlight key trends, gaps and outstanding requirements.

Maintain accurate quotation, approval, KYC/AML, reinsurance and onboarding records, and ensure compliance with internal controls, data‑protection and regulatory requirements.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

Degree in Actuarial Science, BCom Insurance, Statistics.

Progress in Diploma in Insurance.

Four (4) years’ relevant work experience in handling Group Life Schemes.

Basic knowledge of regulations by IRA.

Analytical skills.

Attention to detail.

Technology‑oriented with interest in emerging technologies like AI and ML.

Interpersonal skills.

Desirable Competencies:

Proficiency in MS Office suite applications.

Analytical skills.

Basic automation knowledge.

Communication and presentation skills.
