CIAT Business Model Analyst Intern Jobs in Kenya

The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) – a member of the CGIAR Consortium (www.cgiar.org) – develops technologies, innovative methods, and new knowledge that better enable farmers, especially smallholders, to make agriculture competitive and profitable as well as sustainable and resilient.



CIAT conducts research for development in tropical regions of Latin America, Africa, and Asia (www.ciat.cgiar.org).


The Landscapes Restoration team at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) is seeking a Business Model Analyst Intern to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

The intern will support research staff in activities related to land tenure, policy, equity and inclusion.


CIAT Internships:


CIAT Internships program is intended to assist on-going students to familiarize themselves with their areas of studies for a period of 3-6 months.

This program is not intended for students who have already secured employment after their latest degree courses.


Duties will include:


  • Research on business models for land restoration
  • Research on land policy in Kenya
  • Research on gender, equity, and inclusiveness
  • Literature review and scientific writing
  • Assist with organizing meetings


    Qualifications and personal attributes:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social science, economics or related field
  • Final year student or less than one year after degree completion and should not have secured employment during this period.
  • An interest in developing business models
    for land restoration with smallholder farmers
  • An understanding of the role of institutions in social and agricultural transformations
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Good communication skills and with interest in sustainable development


    Terms of Internship:

    The Internship period will be for three (3) months, renewable up to six (6) months depending on performance and availability of resources.

    article, an abstract from the applicant’s thesis, a newspaper article, or other writing sample that reflects applicant’s
