CIAT Agricultural Transformation Intern Kenya Jobs

The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) – a member of the CGIAR Consortium (www.cgiar.org) – develops technologies, innovative methods, and new knowledge that better enable farmers, especially smallholders, to make agriculture competitive and profitable as well as sustainable and resilient.



CIAT conducts research for development in tropical regions of Latin America, Africa, and Asia (www.ciat.cgiar.org).


The Landscapes Restoration team at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) is seeking an Agricultural Transformation Intern to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

The intern will support research staff in activities related to land tenure, policy, equity and inclusion.


CIAT Internships program is intended to assist on-going students to familiarize themselves with their areas of studies for a period of 3-6 months.

This program is not intended for students who have already secured employment after their latest degree courses.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Research on institutions for agricultural and land management
  • Research on land policy in Kenya
  • Research on gender, equity, and inclusiveness for development
  • Literature review and scientific writing
  • Assist with organizing meetings


    Qualifications and personal attributes:


  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in political science, economics or related social science field
  • An understanding of the role of institutions in social and agricultural transformations
  • Communicator and being interested in all things sustainability
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, communications, and planning skills
  • Very good command of English, Kiswahili is
    an added advantage


    Terms of Internship:


    The Internship period will be three (3) months, renewable up to six (6) months depending on performance and availability of resources.
