Christian Health Association of Kenya Cook Jobs; The position holder will be responsible for preparation of quality and variety of meals in all the sections of the kitchen. Responsible for general cleanliness of the kitchen and work surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure mis en place in sufficient quality and quantity for meal preparation in the allocated duty area.

  • Prepare all food hygienically under the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.

  • Work with the head cook and shift leader to ensure efficient use of food items, minimize wastage, ensure proper portioning, and manage the production cycle to keep food costs within target margins.

  • Ensure attractive and creative food presentation styles for all allocated food items.

  • Support the service team in buffet service, engaging guests in a friendly manner, portioning food properly, and refilling buffet stations promptly.

  • Maintain clean and orderly kitchen work areas to the highest hygiene levels.

  • Plan menus as assigned by the Head Cook or Shift Leader.

  • Contribute to continuous recipe design and creativity to assure clients of variety in meals provided.

  • Actively seek client feedback to improve and respond to requests.

  • Organize duties to produce food items within allocated
    time and provide timely service to clients and groups.

  • Liaise effectively with other departments to ensure client requests are accurately followed, paying attention to the kitchen diary of bookings and special requests.

  • Ensure proper handover during shift changes.

  • Liaise with the head cook for duty hours allocation, noting that the kitchen is manned 24 hours during peak periods.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

    Requirements

  • Certificate in Food Production / Culinary Skills.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a busy commercial kitchen.

  • Strong organizational skills, customer service, creativity, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
