Overall Responsibility:

  • The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company.
  • He/she works with Executive Management to grow the company through the use of technological resources.
  • For effective performance of the duties under the role, the job holder needs to work closely with the CIO, PMO & SMO.
  • Establish the company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s technological development.
  • Act as the Technical lead and advisor to management on ongoing projects, assignments and developments;
  • Provide the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth in relation to projects.
  • Work in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as, Production, PMO, and operations as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership to department heads in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
  • Conduct research and case studies on leading edge technologies and makes determinations on the probability of implementation.
  • Act as a good steward of Companies resources and ensures control of departmental budgets.
  • Evaluates new technology and makes recommendations on technological solutions
    Consistently evaluate the companies technical efficiency and make changes as necessary
  • Makes presentations to board of directors and Chief Executive Officer in relation to products and projects.
  • Set up/Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance and ROI.
  • Coordinates, controls prioritization after a need assessment has been done.
  • Supports HR in recruitment, training, development and performance management of the team.
  • Carry out any
    other duty that may be assigned by the management from time to time.

    Roles in the life of a project:
  • Plays a direct supervisory role over the developers.
  • Should be constantly abreast of the progress of the developers.
  • Is responsible for allocating work and review of the work done to and by the developers.
  • Appointed checker of documentation from the CIO office – TSD and FSD.
  • Plays a role as part of approval team for the documents produced by the QA.
  • 3rd line support – Further diagnosis and analysis of the incident report forwarded by the CIO office.
  • Work with PMO for the effort estimation and general project management.
  • Monitor and control development timelines and negotiate time lines where necessary.
  • Collaborate with CIO in research and development on new technologies, trends and innovations.
  • Responsible for development of proof of concepts and demos.

    Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/IT or its equivalent;
  • An advanced degree in IT or Management related area will be desirable;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Demonstrated excellence in programming using updated methodologies
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to motivate teams
  • Results oriented with attention to details
  • Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking
