Chemonics seeks a supply chain director for the anticipated USAID Supply Chain Technical Assistance Activity in Uganda.

The five-year, approximately $18.5 million Activity aims to fortify the performance of Uganda’s health supply chain systems in the self-sustaining, responsive, uninterrupted, and accountable delivery of quality-assured medicines and other supplies to improve the health status of Ugandans.

The supply chain director provides support to implement the overall strategic leadership of the activity and plays a crucial role in supporting the chief of party in providing project oversight. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical oversight and supervision for activity implementation in support of the project’s chief of party
    Lead technical assistance to USAID implementing partners, supply chain actors, and Government of Uganda stakeholders in the adoption of innovative supply chain solutions, including digital solutions
  • Maintain strong and positive professional working relationships with development counterparts, government counterparts at the national and subnational levels, the private sector, and civil society organizations to address supply chain strengthening
  • Provide highly contextualized technical expertise in areas such as supply chain strengthening and management, forecasting and procurement, supply chain governance, human resources for supply chain, waste management, quality and pharmacovigilance, warehousing, distribution, and electronic logistics management information systems
  • Manage project technical staff to ensure implementation progresses toward
    client expectations and anticipated results and incorporates industry best practices

    Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in supply chain management, business management, public health or a related field and 10 years of experience implementing programs of similar size and scope in Uganda and/or East and Southern Africa or a bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience
  • Demonstrated results and achievements increasing efficiencies in and optimizing health supply chains, with a specific emphasis in digital supply chain solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in health commodity procurement, warehousing, distribution, and logistics management information systems and in overseeing integrated collaboration and coordination efforts in these areas
  • Excellent interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills and substantial experience interacting with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts, including senior-level government officials
  • Command of U.S. government-funded program management, policies, regulations, and procedures
  • Ugandan nationals or residents encouraged to apply

  • Fluency in English required
