Responsibilities


Support the implementation and scale up of RAS as a pre-referral treatment for severe malaria at the community and peripheral health facilities in Uganda

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the district health teams where the pilot is being implemented and the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP)
  • Coordinate the implementation and evaluation of RAS introduction in the pilot areas
  • Keep track of all country specific project deliverable, work closely with consortium partners to provide timely inputs and support in finalization of deliverables as necessary in collaboration with Program Manager, ICH and CHAI’s Global Malaria team to ensure high quality
  • Strengthen relationships/communication between project partners, districts and the MoH through participation in consortium meetings; support partners to plan, implement and monitor project activities
  • Provide training and supervisory support to implementing partners, specifically supporting UNICEF in the roll out of trainings, BCC and other supportive interventions
  • Coordinate the dissemination of project activities/results to MOH and stakeholders, and support the development of the roadmap for national scale-up of RAS in Uganda.

    Provide technical Assistance to MOH to coordinate the roll out of strategic activities aligned to ICH goals, specifically

  • Support NMCP in the roll out trainings and mentorships on the Integrated Management of Malaria trainings and Clinical Audits, and any other supportive interventions
  • Support Child Health Division coordinate the roll out of ICCM and IMCI in public and private sectors
  • Support engagement and representation activities including participation in designated technical working group and technical committee meetings at the national level as specified by supervisor

    Identify strategic opportunities in the health systems to support ICH goals

  • Scope strategic opportunities along the continuum of care and design strategies to improve access to quality health services for community linkages to
    the public and/or private health system
  • Conduct desk reviews of reports and other literature to define opportunities to reduce childhood morbidity and mortality
    Develop business cases for resource mobilization and strategies for roll out
  • Participate in proposal development as part of resource mobilization efforts to support strategies aimed at reducing the burden of common childhood illnesses.
  • Support donor reporting as necessary working with Program Manager, Malaria and CHAI Global Malaria team on coordination and information synthesis
  • Any other duties as specified by supervisor


    Requirements


  • A high quality first degree in clinical sciences or business
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a rigorous private or public sector position coordinating project activities
  • A thorough understanding of the overall health systems priorities and gaps throughout Uganda including a strong understanding of public and private health systems
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, credibility, and dedication to CHAI’s mission
  • Ability to be effective, calm, and flexible in high-pressure situations, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to effectively prioritize
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and persuade people of varied professional and cultural backgrounds
  • Proven ability to function in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and timeliness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Willingness to travel in country up to ~60% of the time.
  • A strong passion for producing results and a personal commitment to excellence.
