Center for International Forestry Finance Officer – Grants Jobs in Kenya ;Delivers high‑quality financial management and reporting services for restricted grants, ensuring accuracy, compliance with CIFOR‑ICRAF and donor requirements, timely support to project teams, and effective internal controls.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Oversight

  • Provide oversight for restricted grants through budget review, expenditure verification, partner monitoring, reconciliation and reporting.

    Budget Monitoring & Control

  • Maintain complete records of project financial documentation.

  • Collaborate with PIs, project teams, partners and donors.

  • Review expenditures for compliance.

  • Liaise with PMU on LoAs, project start‑up and tracking.

    Budget Planning & Updates

  • Support annual/rolling budget preparation.

  • Review staff‑time allocations in OCS Planner.

  • Plan project costs with teams.

  • Review annual budgets for accuracy.

    Donor Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and submit donor financial reports, invoices and payment requests.

  • Review country office reports before submission.

  • Follow up on donor queries.

    Grant Budget Development & Amendments

  • Support preparation of budgets for new projects/amendments.

  • Ensure full cost recovery and compliance.

    Grant Agreement Review

  • Review financial provisions of new agreements/amendments.

  • Ensure clarity, feasibility and compliance.

    Internal Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly summaries of restricted projects.

  • Report staff‑cost forecasts and allocations.

    Audit Management

  • Coordinate donor‑required audits.

  • Provide documentation and respond to queries.

  • Review draft audit reports.

    Financial Operations & Monitoring

  • Monitor donor receivables/payables.

  • Inform PIs of spending
    rates.

  • Identify incoming donor funds and provide coding.

  • Monitor timesheet recording and variances.

  • Provide financial insights for decision‑making.

    Implementing Partner Financial Management

  • Review partner LoAs and budgets.

  • Monitor partner compliance.

  • Analyze partner expenditures and variances.

  • Review partner reports and ensure collection of unused funds.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as assigned by Senior Finance Officer – Grants.

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and internal policies.

  • Review work prepared by Finance Assistant and provide guidance.

  • Coordinate staff development plans.

    Education, Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

  • ERP experience (Unit4 Agresso, VisionXL advantageous).

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience.

  • Experience in project/cost accounting.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, databases).

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
