Role:

Responsible for the integrity and security of the database. Plan and develop the database, as well as troubleshoot any issues on behalf of the users.

Key Result Areas:

• Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans

• Ensure that archiving procedures are functioning correctly

• Establish the needs of users and monitor database user access, permissions, privileges, and security.

• Maintain data standards, including adherence to the ICT policy

• Manage and fine tune the databases to minimize database downtime and to provide fast responses.


• Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of databases.

• Monitor database performance, implement changes, apply, and test new patches and versions when required in line with ICT policy.

• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelors IT/Computer Science/statistics/Engineering (Hons)

• ITIL

• Any Microsoft database related certification, Oracle database certification, Data Science, Machine Learning and Analytics Professional Certification

• Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design

Required Experience and Competences:

• Two (2) years’ experience in a role related to design, development, and delivery of enterprise database management in a large financial institution or a reputable organization
