CBM Global Disability Inclusion Sign Language Interpreter Jobs in Ethiopia

Scope of Work

Provide real‑time interpretation from spoken language to sign language and vice versa during meetings, workshops, or conferences.

Ensure accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation aligned with the communication preferences of the Disability Inclusion Advisor.

Facilitate clear communication between Deaf and hearing teammates.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling information.

Collaborate with teammates and event organizers to ensure effective logistics (seating, visibility, technical requirements).

Deliverables

Uphold ethical and professional conduct in line with do‑no‑harm principles and CBM Global safeguarding policies.

Ensure Deaf participatory and inclusive methods are implemented.

Demonstrate experience and share knowledge in the field.

Provide interpretation in sign language to Deaf participants.

Timeframe & Duration

Weekly, day‑to‑day activities including travel for a duration of one year.

Place / Location of Service

CBM Global Nigeria Country Office and external engagements as required.

Required Expert Profile

Strong communication skills in both sign language and spoken language.

Fluency in Nigerian Sign Language and spoken language(s) of the event.

Background knowledge of pre‑lingual Deafness and disability inclusion.

Confident command of oral and sign language.

Proven experience interpreting for Deaf persons and persons with disabilities.

Strong human connection skills, professionalism, quick thinking, and observational ability.

Analytical skills demonstrated through similar consultancy experiences.
