Job Summary:

As a Roving Logistic officer, you will ensure that all programs and operations have the products and services they require in a timely manner to support high-quality programs. you will coordinate the implementation of all daily logistics activities through collaboration with supply chain and logistics managers, you will travel frequently to field offices and other project sites and offer all necessary assistance. In accordance with CRS’s core principles, you will coordinate the needs, difficulties, and implementation of solutions for commodities and logistics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the supply chain team and relevant programming staff on logistics services that meet the pipeline requirements.

  • Help identify challenges in supply chain management and provide recommendations to address those.

  • Check and support the implementation of delivery operations; from arrival of goods in-country (or local purchase point) to the warehouses and on to the final distribution centers in accordance with CRS and donor regulations and international and local supply chain standards and requirements.

  • Collaborate and communicate with the procurement team to ensure they receive timely purchase requisitions with comprehensive specifications, delivery schedules, and other terms and conditions, including for labeling, branding, and marking.

  • Identify the demand for warehouse materials and equipment’s and ensure materials and goods requested from PDP side are adequately purchased, received, stored, and tracked.

  • Provide regular coaching and support to CRS and partner staff and laborers to ensure they have the capacity to implement with accuracy, consistency, and transparency throughout the commodity logistics processes and to abide by security, safety, and health requirements.

  • The roving logistics officer will contribute to maintaining
    and improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety/security of warehouse staff at PDP level.

  • Help coordinate and supervise activities related to commodity receipt, transportation, distribution, and disposal. Liaise with surveyors, C&F agents, the transport officer, partners, and other parties to ensure the timely receipts and distribution of goods.

  • Maintain updated files with all required logistics documents and ensure all supply chain management activities and movements are fully and accurately documented.

  • Prepare and/or review all reports prior to submission per distribution requirements.

  • Work closely with warehouse owners and PDP managers to ensure timely repairs and maintenance of warehouses and its surroundings.

  • Support the PDP and SC team on the assessment of rental warehouses based on the demand and as per CRS ET warehouse selection criteria and standard.

  • Support the logistics & PDP teams and fill gaps, close audit findings when necessary.

    Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science fields, preferably in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management. Professional certifications(s) in Logistics & supply chain or equivalent field strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in supply chain, logistics, transport & procurement management, preferably with an international organization.

  • Knowledge of political dynamics along the chain, infrastructure, market knowledge, as well as related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.). Experience with commodity tracking systems is a plus.

  • Required/Desired Foreign Language: English & Amharic

    Travel Required: Approximately 70% of the working hours for this role are spent traveling, and 30% are spent at the base office.
