Catholic Relief Services Project Director Jobs in Uganda; CRS seeks a Project Director for an anticipated multi‑country child development, care, and protection project. The project strengthens national systems to protect vulnerable children, support families, improve early childhood development, and reduce reliance on residential care.
The Project Director will lead and manage the Uganda program, ensuring effective systems, donor compliance, subaward management, and coordination with consortium partners and government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management
Serve as lead representative with MoH, MGLSD, foreign governments, civil society, FBOs, and community networks.
Oversee identification and strengthening of partnerships.
Project Management
Lead project design, start‑up, implementation, and close‑out.
Ensure integration with global project team.
Establish safe environment for collaboration and problem‑solving.
Supervision
Develop staffing plans and recruit senior staff.
Manage team dynamics, staff well‑being, coaching, and mentoring.
Monitor risks impacting staff and programming.
Program Quality
Oversee technical assistance and capacity strengthening.
Ensure donor expectations and CRS quality standards are met.
Plan for sustainability and phase‑out.
Program Learning
Lead program learning, research, and publications.
Disseminate promising practices and lessons learned.
Stewardship
Ensure
efficient use of donor resources.
Oversee partner budgets, finance, and reporting.
Approve expenditures and budget adjustments.
Communications
Oversee communication strategies and materials per donor and CRS branding.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, international development, or international relations.
Minimum 8 years’ management and health technical experience.
Minimum 5 years managing donor funds, including multi‑country grants.
Minimum 2 years managing staff; experience coaching senior program staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate in social work, education, health, or related field.
Recognized sector leader (publications, conferences).
Experience engaging government partners at national/sub‑national levels.
Knowledge of CRS partnership strategy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding of health service delivery systems and national strategies.
Strong relationship management and strategic leadership skills.
Proven program management and coaching experience.
Strong analytical, systems thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office, web conferencing, and budget systems.
Languages
English required
Travel
Up to 30% to project locations and field offices outside Kampala
