Responsibilities

  • Review staff short term advance liquidations, travel expense vouchers with 100% accuracy and in accordance to the Agency Documentation Policy.
  • Prepare General Journal vouchers
  • Consolidate templates for posting of General Journal vouchers and send to Grant and Compliance Manager for posting to SUN on a daily basis
  • Receive cash and prepare the cash receipt slip. Update the cash receipt register and send report to Grant and Compliance Manager.
  • Cash Management – verify the cash in bank report and plan for the cash call from Kampala Office and ensure adequate cash is available for planned activities.
  • Managing Advances, Prepayments, and Receivables through follow up on delinquent liquidations, Reconciliation of accounts.

    Qualifications

  • Degree in Business administration with a bias in Accounting (BBA-Accounting)
  • Computer Literacy with competence in Navision, Quick books, Sun System, Ms Word, Ms Excel and other accounting packages especially Sun Systems.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in a busy finance environment of an International NGO or UN agency.
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge of USG regulations and compliance issues.
  • Proven ability to build effective teams and create consensus including keen ability to motivate through example; adept at building capacity in others.
  • Respect for diversity.
  • Willing to work additional hours as and when required, and travel to the field.

    Catholic Relief Services ICT4D Officer Opportunities in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Support the development of data collection methodologies, processing and information management for the different project activities using ICT4D solutions;
  • Provide ready access to data for real-time monitoring through data reports interfaced with dynamic graphics using cloud-based reporting tools and dynamic dashboards, to enable decision makers to produce evidence based reports;
  • Produce informative and interactive project maps of high quality that highlight the geographic coverage and achievements of the different project interventions using approved mapping software;
  • Build project-based staff capacity on data management and sharing protocols to ensure data privacy and data security standards are followed when collecting and disseminating information;
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support to project based staff using project promoted ICT4D solutions and project database;
  • Document the best practices, lessons learned and innovations on the use of ICT4D solutions (mapping and data visualization) for project learning and knowledge management.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in statistics, computer science, software engineering, information management, geo-information systems or related area;
  • Minimum three years of progressive experience in database management working with humanitarian and development assistance, preferably with an international NGO;
  • Experience in database management using Microsoft Access, SQL Server and Excel required;
  • Experience in using mapping software such as ArcGIS is required;
  • Experience in creating data visualization dashboards (e.g. Reporting services, Access, Zoho Reports, Dundas Dashboards, PowerBI);
  • Has experience working with ICT4D in MEAL system (e.g. iFormBuilder) preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required;

    Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to the Nuyok programming team in the development and implementation of strategies, standards, project plans, tools and best practices in nutrition and WASH that are aligned to GoU requirements and effectively engage partners, donors, and governments.
  • Effectively manage talent and supervise. Manage team dynamics and staff well-being. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, contribute to the recruitment process of project staff, and complete performance management for direct reports.
  • Lead Nuyok technical working groups on nutrition, health and WASH activities and champion learning with project staff and partner teams. Analyze and evaluate project performance data following MEAL policy. Proactively identify issues and concerns and use participatory processes to overcome implementation obstacles.
  • Coordinate the identification of staff capacity and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and capacity strengthening and required interventions to support quality project implementation.
  • Help
    identify, assess and strengthen partnerships, applying appropriate application of partnership concepts, tools and approaches. Maintain clear, regular and effective lines of communication with all nutrition, health and WASH implementing partners to ensure effective project implementation and program impact.
  • Coordinate and monitor financial, material and human resources relevant to project needs. Through planning and oversight ensure project resources are available and used efficiently. Conduct periodic budget reviews and follow-up with partners on timely submission of financial reports to facilitate proper tracking of resource use.
  • Act as a contact person and represent the organization with donors, INGO working groups, local partners and relevant local government and community actors. Participate in relevant forums and knowledge networks to collect and share promising practices in the area of nutrition, health and WASH, promote CRS’ work in Uganda, and contribute to the CRS learning agenda.

    Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Public Health, Nutrition, Community Development, Behavior Change Science, Sociology, other clinical training, or relevant health-related degree with a focus on rural development and/or humanitarian assistance.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in program management positions related to Nutrition and Food Security, preferably with an international NGO.
  • Knowledge of capacity strengthening best practices
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations.
  • MEAL skills and experience preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.

    Catholic Relief Services Nuyok Learning Technical Manager Opportunities in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development of a program learning agenda for the DFSA with stakeholder buy-in that ensures the program and its partners continually learn for program improvement.
  • Develop and guide implementation a comprehensive knowledge management plan that ensure effective capturing, storage and dissemination of project both tacit and explicit knowledge within DFSA
  • Guide the generation of technical evidence base to address DFSA’s learning priorities by guiding the conduct of operations research, comprehensive literature reviews and qualitative data collection processes.
  • Work with the MEAL specialist to facilitate annual review of DFSA’s theory of change and logical framework to ensure that learning and contextual changes are incorporated into project implementation.
  • Work closely with MEAL specialist to establish of a program’s intranet comprising of a searchable knowledge database of emerging practices, tools, and reports for CRS and partner staff to access for learning and adaptive management.
  • Develop and implement a broad set of tested knowledge management tools, models and approaches in line with knowledge management needs of DFSA program.
  • Leverage and enhance the CRS’s existing internal knowledge management systems and platforms (e.g. the CRS SharePoint site) to upload and share information

    Qualifications

  • Master's degree in one of the following: international development, international affairs relations, public affairs, social sciences, information systems, rural development
  • Six years’ experience working in a development setting;
  • Proven ability to establish, maintain and use MEAL systems from project design to implementation (including work with results frameworks and theories of change) as well as building staff capacity to utilize systems.
  • Familiarity with M&E policies, procedures and priorities of USAID, DFID, UN agencies and Caritas agencies preferred
  • English written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in staff development and partner capacity building required
  • Experience in designing and overseeing the implementation of program evaluations and the use of evaluation findings to support program managers with adaptive management
