CARD Call for Promoting Conflict-Sensitive Civic Engagement for Activists Jobs in Ethiopia


Duties and Responsibilities

  • CARD is seeking individual applicants from Oromia, Amhara, Somali, SNNP regions who are currently working on individual or group advocacy or initiatives focused on human rights, democracy, and civic engagement and who want to learn more about conflict sensitive civic engagement.

  • If offered a position to the training, individuals are expected to be able to devote at least 4 hours a week throughout the program to reading materials and develop action plans, attend bi-weekly training happening in Addis Ababa, collaborating with trainers and other participants, and building out their project.

  • The program is fully funded by CARD, including travel and accommodation fees.

    Eligibility criteria

  • This program targets current and aspiring human rights (democracy) advocates who have aspirations of forming a grassroot youth movement.

    To take part in the program, applicants will need to be:

  • From age 21-35

  • Residents of Oromia, Amhara, Somali, and SNNP regions

  • Who can demonstrate they have previous experience in activism/advocacy.

  • Who can provide a letter of recommendation.

  • Willing to take 8 weeks of training and implement their own grassroots civic movement

  • Knowledge of the local languages of the community where they do civic activism.

  • Knowledge of the political and civic environment of Ethiopia

  • Knowledge of human rights values and democratic principles.
