Job Description

Background

Camara is an International organisation dedicated to using technology to improve education and livelihood skills in communities around the world.

Camara has adopted a social enterprise model that sells a wide range of products and services (computers, educational software, training programmes, technical support) to our Educational Hubs at subsidised prices.

The Hubs then sell the Camara packages to schools and provide aftermarket support.

Basic Objective of the Role

The Camara Education Ethiopia (CEE) Communications Officer will work closely with the fundraising teams in Ireland and the UK to provide information on the work being carried out by CEE on behalf of our international donors. Specifically, this will be information on the schools being supported by Camara.


Specific Objectives of the Role

Create a data-base of schools who receive support (Name, Location, Type, Pupil numbers etc).

Develop and create stories that can be channelled back to donors on use of donor funding /equipment.

Identify students, teachers and schools that can be utilised as Ambassadors for the program and the Camara brand

Develop and execute a communications strategy for CEE locally to drive program growth and funding

Assist with donor trips to the schools

Key Responsibilities

Visiting schools to collect information

Building relationships with schools

Connect schools to specific donors

Develop motivational stories on individual schools, teachers and students.

Develop ambassadors that can be tracked through the school years and beyond and capture their stories.

Development of on going messaging of the entire program along with localised updates on schools and individual teachers, students, ministry officials, schools and impact data.

Organise recognition of donor support (School plaques etc)

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience Required

2+ years experience in a communications role within an agency or company

Proven organisational and administrative skills

Fluent in written and spoken English
Third level degree

Excellent communication skills

Must be willing to travel extensively - particularly in country
