Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs the Corporate Affairs & Communications Lead – West Africa will be responsible for oversee government relations in West Africa, policy research and development, manage communication strategies and collaboration with the Director of Corporate Affairs and Head of Communications to develop messaging that reinforces the company's brand, supports policy initiatives, and ensures external communication aligns with organizational goals and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing government affairs and corporate communication strategies.

  • Monitoring the political landscape.

  • Providing relevant information to senior management and assisting with strategic planning for regulatory activities.

  • Building professional relationships with government entities, participating in industry associations, and collaborating with advocates.

  • Introducing legislative changes supportive of company operations, organizing engagements with government and key stakeholders, and creating external affairs content.

  • Managing crisis communication, responding to media inquiries, and ensuring consistent and aligned external communication.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and stakeholders are crucial to accurately and positively portraying the organization's message.

    Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in government relations, public relations, or related roles.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.

  • Strong project management skills with
    the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of best practices in corporate communication, crisis management, and media relations.

  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content that resonates with external audiences.

  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team.

  • Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction.
