Main purpose of job:

To provide an efficient support service to National Crime Agency (NCA) operations, programmes and projects, contributing towards the successful delivery of business objectives across the Southern Africa region.

The main function of this post is to provide administrative support to the NCA Liaison Office, specifically providing support to the NCA Office Manager with the maintenance of office systems, administrative records, programme activities and daily ad hoc duties.

The successful candidate will have sound judgement, reliability and be comfortable working as part of a close knit team. The appointment calls for a high level of integrity, initiative and personal organisation. Additionally a high level of discretion with regard to the work performed by the NCA office and partners is essential.

Roles and responsibilities:

Major duties:

  • Provide logistical and administrative assistance to the NCA office manager, primarily in support of the NCA International Liaison Officers (ILOs) and Regional Manager (RM) in line with NCA policies and procedures.

  • Support implementation of projects; monitoring through regular stakeholder engagement and intervening as necessary to ensure the projects deliver the expected results.

  • Support Office Manager in monitoring programme finances including: accurate budgeting and forecasting, ensuring value for money, processing and receipting invoices.

  • Liaise with Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and other partners across His Majesty’s Government (HMG) on behalf of the NCA.

  • Support the Office Manager, ILOs and RM in liaising with foreign law enforcement agencies, UK law enforcement agencies,
    other NCA departments and external partners.

  • Represent the NCA at meetings, conferences and events.

  • Maintain NCA inventories and assets, including vehicles.

  • On occasions, be able to provide out of hours support to NCA activity.

    Other duties:

  • Submitting occasional maintenance requests for ILOs’ residences and liaising with Corporate Services to monitor progress.

  • Reporting any major works requests to Office Manager in order to obtain central approval prior to commencement.

  • Assisting with departure/arrival of UK based officers.

  • Ad-hoc duties in support of Office Manager, ILOs and RM as and when required.

    Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Fluent in English language

  • Ability to produce reports to a high standard and maintain accurate records

  • Competent working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams

  • Personal organisation – ability to work alone and unsupervised at times

  • Full driving licence, valid in South Africa

    Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Familiar with FCDO and NCA systems
