Responsibilities

  • Support effective and efficient operations of the CTEN team, including through:
  • Project management support to CT Programme Officers in Nairobi and across the wider Africa CTEN network as needed, including on procurement and contracting
  • Management of visits, events and missions for CTEN Sub Saharan Africa including drawing up programmes, planning logistics and consulting stakeholders
  • Supporting CTEN Sub Saharan Africa communications, including monthly forward looks, writing up case studies and liaison with press teams
  • Creation and maintenance of CTEN information storage systems including contacts database, programme reports and documents
  • Acting as the key contact point within the network for IT, technical, human resource and operational needs, including coordinating upgrades of office facilities where needed
  • General support as needed for smooth running of the CTEN Nairobi office and wider network
  • Manage CTEN Sub Saharan Africa’s Operational Budget: monitor expenditure and ensure accurate forecasting; process expense claims and review all purchasing requests to ensure audit procedures are followed
  • Support the Head of CTEN Sub Saharan Africa, including facilitating travel and meeting requirements and diary management as required

    Qualifications

  • Ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience of budget management including monitoring spend and processing invoices
  • Ability to produce clear and accurate work with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems
  • Can support colleagues when under pressure and able to contribute to cross-team working
  • A flexible and proactive approach

    British High Commission Corporate Services Officer (Finance) Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • On a monthly basis review the Network Post Accounts (NPA spreadsheet, cash balance spreadsheet and the published FPCIs and convene a formal monthly meeting with CSM and post management on
    spend versus forecast, financial risk, financial liabilities, budget management, and cash management and control issues.
  • Keep sight of Financial Performance Compliance Indicators (FPCIs) on a monthly basis and work with other team members and the hub to ensure they are robust and issues resolved appropriately within agreed timescales.
  • Review the effectiveness of the systems of financial controls as they relate to cash management, use of imprests, payments, banking practices, procurement and asset management and inventories and ensure they are applied consistently and effectively. Recommend and implement improvements as required.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and standard procedures on debt management, domestic travel susbsistence and perdiems, telephone usage etc to enhance compliance with with FCO financial regulations.
  • Responsible for implementing agreed recommendations by Internal Audit, and carrying out annual self audit based on top ten fraud control issues identified by IAD globally. Support the completion of the Annual Ceritifcate of Copliance and Assurance (ACCA).
  • Supervises day to day running of the Accounts Office ensuring that they deliver an efficient and effective accounting service to BHC. Provide cover to the Accountant as necessary.
  • Responsible for completing annual and quarterly financial returns, and carrying out financial analyses and reviews to support management decisions.
  • Continuously review financial and procurement processes and recommend improvements to eliminate duplication, bureaucracy and enhance customer service.

    Qualifications

  • A Univeristy or technical college degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and completion or part completion of professional accountancy training such as ACCA, CPA, ICPAU etc.
  • A mimimum of 3 years professional working experience with a focus on finance and accounting.
  • Professional experience in the use of Microsoft Office especially Excel, and a commercial accounting system such as ORACLE.
  • Evidence of strong organisational and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills.
