    Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

    Main purpose of job:

  • To Assist in the expeditious and efficient delivery of the Technical Works Group (TWG) function for the British High Commission (BHC) at Nairobi by providing expert support and delivery in the fields of Procurement & Administration.

    Roles and responsibilities:

    Perform general administration tasks including but not limited to; -

  • Assisting in the production of technical reports
    Filling
  • Creating Purchase Orders (PO’s)
  • Ensuring PO’s are executed expeditiously
  • Liaising with and sourcing from contractors and suppliers to ensure a timely delivery of materials, labour and resources as required
  • Establish & develop Supplier networks in accordance with FCO guidance and ensure procurement procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Assisting the Technical Works Supervisor (TWS) and the TWG Team leaders in the execution of their duties
  • Processing property work requests from the BHC Helpdesk to ensure repair tasks are allocated to the appropriate technical team updating the Helpdesk with progress reports, arranging access to properties and assisting in co-ordinating resource allocation.
  • Assist in Budget control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Work in partnership with other departments including Procurement and Health & Safety to deliver.
  • Contributing to delivering and improving the TWG function in an efficient customer focussed manner.
  • Contributing to the implementation and improvement of Safe Systems of Work, including Risk
  • Assessment and delivering Tool Box Talks.
  • Be a customer facing point of contact for the TWG.

    Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

  • Will assist in managing the TWG Budget
  • Will not manage staff

  • IT Literate (Microsoft Word & Excel – expert level)

  • The Position will be based approximately 3KM from Nairobi City Centre. The post will require travel in and around Nairobi across the BHC estate and on occasion Overseas.
  • The position is a 1 Year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension.
