Main purpose of job:

The tasks generally include the installing, repairing and maintaining water supply heating and drainage system as well as associated equipment and make sure safe and adequate water supply is available at all times.

The plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and others.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components.
  • Identify required tools and special equipment.
  • Select the type and size of pipe required.
  • Carry out quarterly shower head cleaning.
  • Repair and maintain showers, baths, w/h basins, toilets.
  • General plumbing repairs – sinks / taps.
  • Clearing blocked toilets, sink wastes and drains.
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings.
  • Carry out the cleaning of water tanks.
  • Carry out the cleaning of chimneys.
  • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls.
  • Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems.
  • Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets.
  • Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners.
  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances.
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • 6 monthly water temperature readings for Legionella risk assessment.
  • Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations.

    Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Relevant Diploma
  • Valid driving licence
  • 3 years experience

    Required competencies
  • Delivering Value for Money, Managing a Quality Service

    Annual Leave and Public Holidays:

  • Locally engaged staff of all grades will be entitled to paid annual leave as follows:
  • Up to 2 years 22 days
  • After 2 years services 25 days
  • After 5 years services 30 days
  • In addition to annual leave,
    the British Embassy observes up to a maximum number of 14 Ethiopian, British and Religious public holidays each year.
  • A list of such Embassy holidays will be published each year. Office Staff required to work on these holidays will be granted time off in lieu or overtime where circumstances permit.
