    Main Purpose of Job:
  • You will be a key part of the British Embassy Juba Political team.
  • This team is at the centre of the Embassy’s work supporting the UK-South Sudan bilateral relationship, including UK efforts in support of implementation of the Peace Process.
  • You will be responsible for providing administrative and diary support to Her Majesty’s Ambassador to South Sudan.
  • This is a key role that will facilitate senior diplomatic engagement between the UK and the Government of South Sudan and other diplomatic missions.
  • You will also provide administrative support to the Deputy Head of Mission and political team, including event management and organising high profile UK visits such as Ministers or the Special Envoy.
  • This is a dynamic and fast-paced role that will be very rewarding for the right candidate. There is lots of opportunity for development.
  • You will be expected to play a role supporting the Embassy’s outward communication function and the delivery of our UK post graduates scholarship scheme.
  • There is a very strong team spirit and collaborative approach to the team’s work, but you will need to be self-starter, capable of working off your own initiative and owning issues.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills are essential.

    Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide admin and diary support to Her Majesty’s Ambassador to South Sudan.
  • You will play an important role in facilitating diplomatic engagement with the Government and international partners.
  • Responsible for organising Embassy events that the Ambassador or Political team will be hosting at the Embassy or other locations, and you will play a key role in organising the Queen’s Birthday Party
    Assisting
    the political team in the planning and delivery of high profile UK visitors to South Sudan such as Ministers or the Special Envoy.
  • You will support the Political and Press officer in delivering the Embassy’s outward facing communications function.
  • There will be opportunities to lead in this, particularly in relation to events that will involve the Ambassador.
  • You will also provide support to the UK’s Post-Graduate scholarship programme.
  • You will be required to support other corporate activities and to provide ad-hoc administrative support to the political team, including support the planning of travel in country.
  • This is a growing team and your specific areas of political focus may be amended to meet new priorities. You will be working alongside four UK and six locally engaged colleagues in the team when fully staffed.

    Essential Qualifications,Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience working as an Executive Assistant or Private Secretary.
  • Strong written English.

    Desirable
  • Experience working in an Embassy or UN
  • Experience working with the media
