Brilliant Performance Solutions Limited Expatriate or Local Ship Captain Jobs in Nigeria; Our client urgently desires the services of an Expatriate or Local Ship Captain who has a minimum of BSc and a master’s degree in any relevant field. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience. Previous experience in the same role in the Marine Industry is required. The candidate must be resident within Delta State.

Responsibilities

A captain’s duties and responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, from ensuring the safety and security of the vessel and its occupants to managing the crew and maintaining the ship’s seaworthiness. They are ultimately responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including navigation, crew management, cargo operations, and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Navigation and Steering

Navigate the vessel, plot courses, and make route adjustments based on weather, traffic, and other factors.

Crew Management

Supervise and manage the crew, assign duties, ensure proper training, and maintain discipline.

Safety and Security

Ensure the safety and well‑being of all on board, maintain seaworthiness, and comply with safety regulations.

Vessel Maintenance

Oversee

maintenance tasks, ensure equipment is in good working order, and address issues promptly.

Cargo Operations

Manage safe and efficient loading, unloading, and handling of cargo.

Legal Compliance

Ensure vessel and crew comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Crisis Management

Handle emergencies, make quick decisions, and manage situations effectively to ensure safety.

Communication

Communicate effectively with crew, passengers, other vessels, and authorities.

Leadership and Decision‑Making

Lead the ship, make critical decisions, and guide the crew during all phases of operation.

Specific Duties

Before the trip: Conduct pre‑departure checks, ensure vessel readiness, and plan routes.

During the trip: Monitor vessel systems, navigate conditions, and communicate with authorities.

After the trip: Complete post‑trip reports, secure the vessel, and coordinate with other departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience.

Previous experience as a Ship Captain in the Marine Industry.

Must be resident within Delta State.
