Overall Job Purpose
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Foundation’s communications strategy and strengthening internal and external communications in support of Foundation’s overall strategy and goal in promoting flourishing and resilient communities.
The Communications Manager serves on Foundation’s management and works closely with senior leadership on brand and profile positioning.
The role holder will additionally develop, execute, oversee, and coordinate all media, communication activities of the Foundation, and provide strategic leadership on communications related projects i.e., Technology Donation and Discount programme targeted at non-profits and implementation of the Information Technology (IT) policy.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Review and implement Foundation’s communications strategy and plans that supports the overall organizational strategy.
• Working with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team, collect data and knowledge with the objective of communication success of Foundation’s programmes and amplification of impact working with communities. This includes supporting MEL in packaging and presentation of reports, impact, and learning.
• Develop communication tools and materials to support communication directed at specific target audiences. These shall include high quality publications for the Foundation such as the annual report, bi-annual newsletters, monthly e-newsletters, corporate brochures, and factsheets, press releases, digital materials, and video/documentary productions, as well as other related brand collaterals.
• Lead the communications team in delivering the organizational corporate communication responsibilities including - brand profile and reputation management, monitoring the unit’s budget and managing external consultants.
• Provide strategic communications and advisory support to Foundation’s management and Board.
• Manage media relations with national, regional, and global news outlets to convey and support Foundation’s strategy i.e., media briefs, interviews, offsite visits, and special events. Ensure Foundation’s work is well documented and receives broad coverage from target media.
• Provide overall oversight on Foundation’s digital media platforms i.e., Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn, taking overall responsibility for strategic content sharing.
