Job Description

The Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations at the lodge and conservation area. He/she provides leadership and strategic planning to all departments to drive a service culture, maximize operations and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation functions of the lodge and conservation area, as per the Organizational chart.

  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget.

  • Lead on all key property initiatives including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment.

  • Manage and handle complaints and oversee the service recovery procedures.

  • Deliver Crater Lake’s budget goals and set other short- and long-term strategic goals for the property.

  • Manage and monitor closely Crater Lake’s reports on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly including developing improvement actions towards cost savings.

  • Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General are on target and accurate.

  • Maximize room yield, camping/conservancy revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.

  • Prepare quarterly financial reports for the Board of Directors including stakeholders and respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.

  • Oversee the procurement
    of operating supplies and equipment including contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services.

  • Lead on the recruitment and hiring of employees including ensuring employee career progression and development.

  • Responsible for ensuring Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements are adhered to.

    Requirements

    The applicant should possess the following qualifications: -

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Diploma in Hospitality would be an added advantage.

  • Demonstrate service attributes in accordance with industry and company standards

  • Team Management

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing a similar sized conservancy hotel or camp.
