Responsibilities

Reporting to the Ophthalmologist in charge, the specialist will: -

  • Work in ophthalmology unit and discharge both clinical, supervisory and Mentorship duties.

  • Provide treatment for wide variety of common eye problems

  • Evaluate symptoms, run tests to diagnose a patient’s condition and then prescribe medication or treatment to remedy the illness or injury.

  • Carry out corrective eye surgeries

  • Train students attached to the unit

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery, Oncology, Anaesthesiology, paediatrics, Dermatology) from a recognized institution

  • Have a registration certificate and a valid practicing license issued by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.

  • Must be willing to work during odd hours and on weekends/holidays

  • Must have served as a Clinical officer for at least three (3) years
