The Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for the production of regulatory reports and information required to ensure compliance to regulatory expectations as well as other internal monitoring requirements.

Job summary

  • Responsible for understanding and preparing the BitPesa's regulatory reports in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting policies.
  • Apply understanding of current report production process and requirements to drive automation of report production in associated reporting tools.
  • Assist in the production of the Regulatory Reporting requirements for the all operations and the respective entities
  • Assess, develop and maintain proper controls, robust documentation, and change management approach for all reporting areas – automated and manual – associated with regulatory reporting function
  • Communicate issues with appropriate data owners.
  • Monitor and track issues to ensure timely and appropriate resolutions are achieved
    Partner with Financial, business subject matter experts, other analysts and developers to ensure requirements are captured appropriately and solutions implemented adequately to address the business needs
  • Stays current on new and evolving regulatory reporting requirements, assess impact and ensure compliance for accurate reporting
  • Participate in communication with Business Units on an ongoing basis to anticipate changes in business and to communicate new regulatory reporting requirements

    Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and implement new rules and rule changes
  • Validate for accuracy daily, weekly or monthly regulatory reports
  • Timely investigation and resolution of exceptions generated during the reporting process/ cycle;
  • Maintain relationships with Regulators, Self regulated bodies and Vendors
  • Engage in the testing and implementation of rule changes that impact reporting processes;
  • Document functional requirements for technology to describe the required changes to reporting processes as a result of rule changes or other change management initiatives;
  • Recommend infrastructure and reporting improvements;
  • Develop global partnerships across Operations, broader Federation and the business area in order to help implement initiatives;
  • Proactively assist the business, operations, compliance, and IT management in understanding the impact of business initiative;
  • Analyze regulatory inquiries;
  • Manage maintenance of procedures and other documents relating to the team;
  • Maintain a strong focus on streamlining inefficient processes, drive forward solutions to remediate production issues in order to improve control, accuracy and timeliness;
  • Actively participate in industry forums and working groups and partner with Federation group to drive industry discussions
  • Lead regional initiative
    projects to strategic platforms

    Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years experiences with AML/CTF compliance, preferably in payments
  • Sound understanding of AML/CTF laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of AFSL compliance is a plus
  • A strong operations mindset involving time sensitive directives and ability to self-manage workflow across competing priorities
  • Highly flexible and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and change directions based on business demands and able to prioritize a diverse workload with multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel; Access & PowerPoint) and with large amounts of data
  • Great problem solving skills, and the ability to deliver results proactively, resourcefully, and methodically
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for Compliance, and a strong interest in technology/knowledge of the industry
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to track and escalate identified issues.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of control and emphasis toward quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to drive discussions.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative.
  • High caliber team player with good judgment, flexibility and productivity.
