Job SummaryThe Project Director will oversee a team providing quality technical, operational, and financial oversight for core activities and direct technical assistance and capacity building support to the teams.
S/he will support both the day-to-day management and implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda and provide support to the Executive Director.
S/he will also support the leadership team in developing strategy, translating the strategy into action plans, engaging with donors, Ministry of Health, partners, collaborators, and leading strategic activities.
He will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure effective organizational management and communication with the national government at all levels and international partners and agencies.
Overall Responsibilities
The Project Director will oversee a team providing quality technical, operational, and financial oversight for core activities and direct technical assistance and capacity building support to the teams.

S/he will also support the leadership team in developing strategy, translating the strategy into action plans, engaging with donors, Ministry of Health, partners, collaborators, and leading strategic activities.
He will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure effective organizational management and communication with the national government at all levels and international partners and agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, and management oversight of the project for successful implementation and achievement of the GHSA priorities.
Manage a diverse team of technical, operational, and management staff, ensuring an organizational structure with specific roles and responsibilities to effectively deliver the GHSA project.
Oversee project work planning, budgeting, implementation, performance
management, and reporting and provide technical assistance to and support national and sub-national teams.
Develop and monitor implementation of systems/policies/SOPs to ensure project compliance with Baylor-Uganda and donor regulations.
Develop and manage strategic partnerships at sub-national, national, and international levels for improved prevention, detection, and response to outbreaks.
Support the Ministry of Health in implementation of the national action plan for health security and implementation of the IHR
Monitoring and Evaluation Framework
Coordinate knowledge management for the project, including documentation of implementation successes, lessons learned, and challenges, including reporting to the donor, as well as local and international dissemination.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
MD with an advanced degree in epidemiology, Public Health, International Health, or a related field; .D.Ph.D. is an added advantage.· 8+ years’ experience successfully managing donor-funded projects, including US government projects·
Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational, team-building, presentation skills.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of global health security, emergency response operations, and International Health Regulations (IHR) frameworks;
Previous experience serving as project director or senior-level management role, and working with/providing technical assistance to national government programs.
