Introduction

Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children's Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and North America.

Responsibilities

  • Post the participant's information into the data from his/her file into the respective data base on a daily basis, Maintain a record of updated Databases, through data cleaning, running queries, error detection logs, and back- up,
  • Generate and distribute to all clinicians a list for weekly & monthly expected ongoing and newly enrolled clients before their appointment dates then produce and submit a missed visit report,
  • Generate a monthly report for all patient's clinic attendances, unscheduled, scheduled, new patients and study patients,
  • Maintain an updated filing systems of patients records,
  • Oversee the day-to-day data management activities,
  • Responsible for timely entry and reporting of data from Case Reporting Forms (CRFs), SAE/EAE forms, source documents,
  • Determine the need for editing data when deemed appropriate and/or when discrepancies are found,
  • Generate, processes, track, and resolve study data related queries, Participate in the review of participants' study data forms, Co-ordinate with QA/QC/ RAC in the review and monitoring of data when appropriate, Perform data transfers, transcribes and faxes data,
  • Complete CRFs and source documents as appropriate.

    Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Library Science & Records Management or any related degree
  • The candidate must have at least two (2) years working experience in health research institutions, (2) two years' experience in data collection & analysis
  • Knowledge of Statistical analysis, study protocol & database management packages MS Access, MS Excel, STATA, SPSS & Epidata

    Baylor Uganda NGO Data Study Counsellor Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Carry out research/fundable proposals and present researched counselling best practices,
  • Oversees the coordination and activities of all counselling for the study, Provides appropriate HIV counselling, Provides test results for participants if needed,
  • Participates in study-specific intensive counselling training and practices, Conducts informed consent process and interviews participants,
  • Performs informed consent process,
  • Completes CRFs and source documents,
  • Identifies participants with adherence challenges,
  • Prepares clients and caregivers for HIV testing, acceptance of test results and antiretroviral therapy for exposed infants, then give information in regard to HIV/AIDS care and treatment services available,
  • Conduct post-test counselling, assess their readiness for antiretroviral therapy then build their capacity in regard to 'positive living for HIV infected clients,
  • Prepare eligible clients and their families for HAART then monitor and support on drug adherence issues,
  • Record clients information and maintain clients' records,
  • Build the capacity of counselling stakeholders, Provide psychosocial support counselling,
  • Conduct general Health education sessions and psychosocial support counselling during meetings for peer support groups, Teen mothers and care takers,
  • Prepare periodic reports on counselling activities as per the counselling BSC.

    Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counselling or any Degree with Post Graduate formal training of HIV/AIDS from a recognised Institution
  • The candidate must have at least three (3) years of experience in HIV/AIDS Counselling in a busy Clinical or hospital based setting ,Two (2) years' experience in training & Counselling, medical background would be an added advantage
  • Two (2)years' experience in a reputable clinical or hospital based setting and health research institution.

  • Participates in study-specific intensive counselling training and practices, Conducts informed consent process and interviews participants, Performs informed consent process,
  • Completes CRFs and source documents, Identifies participants with adherence challenges,
  • Prepare clients and caregivers for HIV testing and antiretroviral therapy for exposed infants,
  • Conduct post-test counselling, assess their readiness for antiretroviral therapy then build their capacity in regard to 'positive living and 'prevention measures for HIV negatives'
  • Prepare eligible clients and their families for HAART, then monitor and support on drug adherence issues,
  • Record clients' information and maintain clients' records, Build the capacity of counselling stakeholders, Provide psychosocial support counselling, Conduct general Health education sessions and psychosocial support counselling during meetings, Prepare periodic reports.

    Qualification

    Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement approved recruitment work plans and monitor the integration of recruitment activities into the community engagement plans,
  • Administer biometric system for potential participants and participate on the community education team,
  • Periodically evaluate the functionality of study tracking system, Support the assistant community educator to monitor the implementation of community mobilization/ demand creation strategies ,
  • Provide technical support in the identification, documentation and follow up of identified potentials participants in the community ,
  • Liaise with the community educator to provide technical support in promoting availability and usage of study data tools then monitor reporting ,
  • Capacity Building, Participate in the development and implementation of linkage and referral system between the community and Baylor-Uganda CRS as well as to other CBO for recruitment and care, Oversee the follow-up, locator information and tracing of study participants,
  • Establish regular communications
  • Contact or visit study participants,
  • Develop appropriate plans with families where possible to identify, restore and resolve underlying issues causing missed visits,
  • Completes CRFs and source documents.

    Qualification:

  • A Degree in a community related Degree preferably with evidence of comprehensive HIV training or a Degree in Nursing /Public Health or a Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Community Health
  • The candidate must have at least one (1) year of working experience in HIV prevention for Research Programs with Donor funded organisations
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body
  • Two (2) years' experience in a research institution is an added advantage

    Baylor Uganda NGO Medical Doctor - Research Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and evaluation of health or illnesses of clients and give individualized care and treatment,
  • Provide appropriate advice, health education and counselling, determine the eligibility of participants for enrolment in the study,
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the side effects of the investigational study product, schedule of visits,
  • Provide test results ,Prescribe study products, Advises and implements the appropriate medical management of adverse events,
  • Ensures timely reporting of SAES and EAEs,
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions, disease progression and community follow up and provide appropriate management, Provides counselling to participant,
  • Register the microbiology laboratory results, trace patients with critical laboratory results and make monthly reports,
  • Conduct capacity building, Perform operational research; write out relevant abstracts,
  • Perform tissue biopsies on patients, follow up results then trace and initiate patients with critical results on appropriate treatment and/or refer to them for higher levels of management.

    Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent from a recognised institution
  • (1) years working experience in HIV/AIDS research, internship in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • At least (2) years' experience in a clinic or hospital based services.
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS & ART is important
  • Must be registered with the Uganda Medical & Dental Practitioners council.
