Bank of Africa Kenya Limited Credit Risk Manager Jobs;To provide independent oversight, challenge, and monitoring of the Bank’s credit risk profile, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, measured, managed, and reported within the Bank’s risk appetite, policies, regulatory requirements, and approved limits.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Governance & Framework
Implement and enhance the Credit Risk Management Framework, policies, methodologies, and guidelines.
Align practices with Risk Appetite Framework, regulatory requirements, and standards.
Provide independent risk challenge to Business and Credit functions.
Monitor compliance with policies, limits, delegated authorities, and risk appetite.
Provide risk input on new products, sectors, and initiatives.
Credit Risk Modelling, Analytics & IFRS 9
Lead IFRS 9 ECL assessment (staging, PD, LGD, EAD, scenarios, overlays).
Review and challenge credit risk models, assumptions, and outputs.
Monitor credit risk trends, model performance, and portfolio deterioration.
Coordinate with Finance and Credit on ECL assessments and model validation.
Provide actionable analytics and insights for management decisions.
Credit Portfolio Monitoring & Early Warning
Monitor portfolio performance, asset quality, concentrations, NPLs, PAR, and delinquency trends.
Maintain and enhance early warning frameworks.
Conduct portfolio reviews and deep dives into high‑risk sectors and exposures.
Analyse impairment, recoveries, restructurings, and write‑offs.
Collaborate with Monitoring, Recoveries, and Business teams on remedial actions.
Credit Risk Assessment
Independently review material credit proposals, renewals, restructurings, and exceptions.
Assess adequacy of risk mitigants, collateral, and guarantees.
Provide independent risk views and escalate exposures outside appetite or policy.
Stress Testing & Scenario Analysis
Lead stress testing and scenario analysis for economic, sector, and borrower risks.
Assess impacts on asset quality, provisions, capital, and profitability.
Provide inputs to ICAAP and enterprise‑wide stress testing.
Recommend management actions
based on stress‑test results.
Credit Risk Reporting, Regulatory & Audit Engagement
Prepare reports and dashboards for Credit Risk Committees, ALCO, BRMC, and Board.
Ensure regulatory and internal reporting meets CBK requirements.
Support regulatory inspections and supervisory reviews.
Coordinate responses to audit findings and ensure timely closure.
Risk Culture & Advisory
Promote strong credit risk culture across the Bank.
Provide technical guidance and advisory support to Business, Credit, Finance, and Treasury.
Deliver credit risk awareness and training to strengthen practices.
Qualifications / Work Experience
Academic Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Professional Qualification such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, FRM, or equivalent (advantage).
Professional Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ banking experience in credit risk management.
Professional Experience in IFRS 9, stress testing, and credit risk analytics desirable.
Professional Demonstrated expertise in portfolio management, credit analysis, and monitoring.
Professional Experience in second‑line risk management highly desirable.
Professional Experience preparing reports for senior management, risk committees, and Boards.
Professional Strong understanding of Kenyan banking regulatory and prudential environment.
