Banda School Head of Digital Learning & Innovation Jobs in Kenya
The Role
The postholder is expected to undertake the teaching of ICT and Computing at The Banda School; to promote genuine interest and enthusiasm in the subject; and to aim for a high standard of achievement for all pupils within the school. He/she should demonstrate energetic and passionate subject expertise at the highest level, driving forward innovation in the subject and leading
the teaching and development of the curriculum.
The postholder is responsible to the Headmaster to ensure effective management of all matters regarding ICT and Computing across the whole school, leading the development of the subject and ensuring the progress of all pupils throughout the school.
Responsibilities associated with the post:
• Enthuse all pupils, staff and parents in the use of Digital Learning and technology more generally;
• Liaise closely with the Deputy Head (Academic) and Heads of Department to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge technology in their respective areas;
• Liaise closely with the ICT Manager to ensure the highest quality hardware and software is available in all computing suites and teaching
spaces;
• Champion the use of technology for learning and teaching;
• Be a lead user and champion of Engage, leading on development and maximisation of its extensive use and impact;
• Keep abreast of digital learning developments, advising the Senior Leadership Team of emerging technologies;
• Establish and investigate ways of incorporating Artificial Intelligence into our teaching, and learning, and administrative processes - this will
involve developing a whole school AI strategy, deploying the latest developments of this evolving technology, training staff, and integrating
AI into the curriculum;
• Track training needs for all teaching and non-teaching staff in all aspects of Digital Learning, ICT and Computing, liaising with the Senior Leadership Team as required;
• Identify and utilise existing expertise amongst proficient users;
• Safeguard pupils through the effective management of school online safety, mobile devices and digital safeguarding, working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead on all digital safeguarding matters;
• Lead on ICT compliance, reviewing and updating the School’s online and ICT policies, Acceptable Use Policy and other ICT related policies,
ensuring that all policies are effective for staff and pupils, and implementing the latest IAPS statutory requirements;
• To liaise with and support other departments, including Special Needs, concerning their use of computers in order to enhance the curriculum;
• To prepare and review the computer syllabus, based on the IT National
• To be responsible for ordering new and appropriate software, hardware and computer publications, plus other consumables required in the Computer Rooms;
• To keep abreast of and be familiar with new innovations in educational computing;
• To evaluate and amend as necessary work carried out in this department;
• To encourage, enthuse and set high standards in the use of computers;
• To control and monitor a budget as advised by the Finance Department;
• To give support and training to colleagues in their use of computers and technology.
Key tasks associated with the post:
• Lead the teaching of Computing by example, modeling best practice in all aspects of classroom delivery, assessing pupil outcomes and progress, and implementing interventions whenever necessary;
• Plan work for each class in accordance with relevant curriculum policies and in cooperation with the Heads of Department group to ensure that pupils experience a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum, relevant to the age group being taught;
• Ensure Computing lessons are outstanding with pace, variety, differentiation and challenge for all;
• Ensure that the learning experience matches the individual needs of the pupils in your class, giving each child the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability;
