    Awash Wine SC. Established in 1936 Awash is proud to be Ethiopia’s oldest winemaker. With over 80 years serving the local and international market, we are one of the country’s most beloved brands.

    The company was acquired in September 2013 through a local and international partnership. Our international staff, with a combined 82 years of experience in the beverage industry, collaborates with 614 (Six Hundred Fourteen) local employees at our two production facilities in Addis Ababa and our vineyard in Merti Jeju, Upper Awash.

    This local-foreign partnership means we combine international know-how with a deep knowledge of Ethiopia’s dynamic and exciting market.

    Purpose of the Job

    The job function is mainly to receive, disburse money and process bank transactions. This includes payment of salary to employees, run petty cash and report on expenditures.

    Main Responsibilities

  • Reconciles the cash-in-hand balance daily to the cash expenditure tracker.
  • Prepares payroll for approval of Farm Finance Officer and Farm Manager.
  • Ensures that the approved payroll is sent to the Payroll Accountant and Finance Manager in Addis office, such that funds can be sent to the local bank account on time.
  • Distributes wages in cheque or cash, as per Company procedures.
  • Prepares and issues pay slips to employees.
    Issues cash payments for procurement, in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Ensures that all petty cash requests are appropriate (i.e. allowable) and authorized and that the original receipts are collected and collated.
  • Ensuring that the petty cash fund is regularly replenished (using reimbursement requests) and safeguarded.
  • Receives cash for the sales of local fruits and crops and ensure cash is banked at all times.
  • Compiles a weekly cash expenditure tracker, which is updated daily.
  • Be the finance designated official to participate in monthly stock takes.
  • Assist with implementation of Company controls and procedures at your duty station.
  • Cover duties of your duty station Finance Officer during any periods of absence or leave.
