AVSI Foundation is an international not-for-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in Italy in 1972.



AVSI is involved in more than 107 cooperation projects in 30 developing countries worldwide in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia. AVSI’s main activity areas are
education and social development, urban upgrading, healthcare, labour, agriculture, food security and water, energy and environment, humanitarian emergency and migrants and refugees, reaching more than
2,6 million direct beneficiaries.


AVSI Foundation Kenya implements projects in early childhood development and education, psychosocial support, health including HIV/AIDS, economic strengthening for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), their families and communities, food security and emergency relief.


AVSI is submitting a Technical Proposal and the objective is to equip youth beneficiaries with skills for successful employment. The trainings will be provided in a non-residential setting, using experiential learning format in venues convenient to youth living in Nakuru, Nyandarua, Machakos, Kitui (Lot 1).


The start date for training is planned for September 2018 till June 2021.


AVSI Foundation NGO Team Leader Project Job Vacancies in Kenya

Main Responsibilities and duties

  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
  • Set clear team goals and provide clear directions to the team
  • Delegate tasks and set deadlines
  • Oversee day-to-day operation and be clear about the program’s priority in the portfolio
  • Report to AVSI Offices the implementation of trainings after each session
  • Monitor team performance and report on metrics
  • Attend a harmonization workshop organized by the Client when required
  • Motivate team members
  • Discover training needs and provide coaching
  • Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
  • Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
  • Encourage creativity and risk-taking
  • Suggest and organize team building activities


    Minimum requirements:

  • Post graduate degree in development studies, management or administration, regional planning, international development or related field;
  • At least ten (10) years of high level professional experience in program design, coordination and/or management;
  • Must have been team leader for at least one comparable assignment;
  • Computer literate with knowledge of one or more accounting software;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    AVSI Foundation NGO Life Skills Expert Job Vacancies in Kenya

    Main Responsibilities and duties


  • Review, adapt and implement life skills training curriculum
  • Develop training plan, timetable and localized case studies for trainees
  • Supervise the implementation of life skills trainings
  • Attend a harmonization workshop organized by the Client when required
  • Give inputs to team leader to reach the specific life skills goals of the program
  • Co-work and support to the team leader to direct the activities on life skills
  • Report to the team leader the implementation of trainings after each session with specific focus on the sector of sector of competence
  • Writes progress notes in
    accordance with contract standards for all individual and group skills training
  • Stimulate an environment that fosters innovation and openness to change
  • Employ relationship and counselling skills effectively
  • Model healthy interactions and respectful communication
  • Maintain communication with team throughout the day
  • Consult with team and follow through with decisions
  • Remain aware of overall program climate and assists others when need arises
  • Perform other duties as assigned


    Minimum requirements:


  • Post graduate degree in development studies;
  • At least seven (7) years of experience with design and/or providing technical assistance on LST

    AVSI Foundation NGO Lead Trainer Job Vacancies in Kenya

    Main Responsibilities and duties


  • Develop training tools (Trainer’s Manual, Course/Module outline, trainer’s workbook and
    Handouts, PowerPoint slides/presentations including videos, applications)
  • Train of trainers on life skills according to the curricula provided by the Client through AVSI (fiveday training of trainers for all trainers (TOT), with two-day refresher trainings between cycles for returning trainers)
  • Attend a harmonization workshop organized by the Client when required
  • Coordinate the training centers, being physically present during training sessions
  • Coordinate the trainers during the implementation of activities
  • Seek feedback from trainers
  • Track attendance and other pre-agreed indicators twice a day and report in electronic format on a daily basis
  • Monitor the youth throughout the training and provide internal quality check reports
  • Keep the record lists and guarantee their reliability
  • Follow the trainees during the trainings and be the point of reference for trainees
  • Understand and report the reason of absence


    Minimum requirements:


  • Post graduate degree in education or development studies;
  • At least seven (7) years of experience with managing or delivering training
  • One Lead Trainer will be required
  • Computer literate with knowledge of one or more accounting software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
