Avenue Healthcare Nursing Services Manager Jobs in Kenya; Manage the provision of nursing and auxiliary services in the hospital according to Avenue’s defined quality standards, protocols, and policies.
Main Responsibilities
People Management
Liaise with Hospital Manager/HR to ensure optimal staffing levels, efficient use of overtime, and locums.
Identify training gaps and coordinate scheduled trainings.
Hold regular staff engagement and monthly meetings with documented attendance.
Ensure deserving staff are recognized/rewarded and disciplinary action is undertaken per policy.
Supervise nursing in‑charges and participate in recruitment, orientation, and training of staff.
Ensure staff grooming, uniforms, and name tags are maintained.
Policies, SOPs & Guidelines
Develop, review, implement, and monitor nursing policies, SOPs, and treatment guidelines.
Collaborate with HR to maintain an updated locum pool.
Ensure proper inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Financial Management
Prepare and monitor annual divisional budget, taking corrective action for variances.
Manage nursing costs within budget through appropriate staffing and consumable management.
Support marketing events within facilities.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure adherence to Avenue corporate governance policies.
Prevent, detect, and report fraud or criminal activity.
Implement internal audit recommendations and attain satisfactory ratings.
Operational Efficiency
Ensure wards are fully utilized depending on patient load and emergencies.
Formulate and implement nursing strategies.
Maintain nursing education credit hours per Nursing Council of Kenya requirements.
Organize training programs (CNEs) for nurses and patient attendants.
Ensure valid nursing practice licenses and signed
job descriptions.
Record and report sentinel incidents/events within 24 hours.
Collaborate with Infection Control Coordinator to enforce standards.
Engage multidisciplinary teams during ward rounds and ensure proper documentation.
Ensure patient safety per International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs).
Provide patient/family education and timely updates to doctors/consultants.
Lead improvement of patient care, maintain standards, and direct personnel.
Prepare Quality Indicator reports monthly and daily statistics for the Hospital Manager.
Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
Participate in emergency response and ensure client satisfaction.
Cover hospital duties as required and adhere to government/professional standards.

Person Specification
BScN in Nursing with administrative training.
Valid Nursing Council of Kenya license.
Updated BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certificates.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related position.
