Avenue Healthcare Medical Officer - Critical Care Jobs in Kenya; Provide quality patient care and services within the Critical Care Unit in line with Avenue Healthcare’s policies, protocols, procedures, and standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, stabilize, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients with accurate documentation.

  • Initiate and maintain treatment in line with hospital policies and protocols.

  • Consult and refer patients to specialists as required.

  • Provide daily updates to patients and next of kin, manage admissions, consents, and discharges.

  • Undertake clinical procedures, ward rounds, and patient reviews.

  • Champion evidence‑based practice, conduct CMEs, and support research.

  • Participate in quality initiatives (morbidity/mortality meetings, incident reporting, RCAs, QIPs).

  • Review medical reports, provide updates to insurers, and attend staff meetings.

  • Rotate across departments as required and foster teamwork.

  • Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and satisfaction through quality care.

  • Support financial viability by managing costs, billing, pre‑authorizations, and documentation.

  • Uphold corporate governance policies, prevent/report fraud, and implement audit recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and HRMIS.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Person Specification

  • MBChB from a recognized institution.

  • Valid KMPDC licence.

  • Updated BLS and ACLS/ATLS certification.

  • Postgraduate training in Critical Care (desirable).

  • Minimum 2 years’ post‑internship experience; at least 1 year inpatient practice (desirable).

  • Customer‑focused and results‑oriented.

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.

  • Reliable, ethical, emotionally intelligent, and detail‑oriented.
