Avenue Healthcare Inpatient Team Leader Jobs in Kenya;To provide clinical and operational leadership across Inpatient Services, ensuring safe, high‑quality and efficient patient care, effective patient flow, optimal utilization of resources, strong multidisciplinary coordination, achievement of performance indicators and continuous improvement in outcomes and patient experience.
Main Responsibilities
Inpatient Clinical Operations & Patient Flow
Provide daily clinical and operational oversight of inpatient services.
Coordinate admission, referral, transfer and discharge processes.
Monitor patient flow indicators (admissions, discharges, length of stay, ICU transfers).
Conduct multidisciplinary ward rounds and ensure timely implementation of care plans.
Resolve operational bottlenecks and escalate risks.
Medical Team Leadership & People Management
Lead and supervise inpatient Medical Officers (permanent and locum).
Manage rosters and ensure adequate clinical cover.
Coordinate consultant and specialist on‑call rosters.
Oversee internship and postgraduate training programmes.
Drive staff engagement, recognition and disciplinary processes.
Clinical Quality, Patient Safety & Governance
Ensure safe, evidence‑based and protocol‑compliant care.
Monitor clinical quality and patient safety indicators.
Report and investigate incidents, adverse events and near misses.
Participate in RCA, CAPA, QIPs and governance committees.
Mortality & Morbidity Management
Document and escalate inpatient deaths and adverse outcomes.
Compile and submit mortality/morbidity data.
Coordinate reviews and track closure of recommendations.
Clinical Standards, Protocols & Documentation
Ensure compliance with treatment guidelines and hospital policies.
Monitor completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation.
Ensure safe use of clinical equipment and compliance with safety standards.
Specialist & Multidisciplinary Coordination
Facilitate collaboration across medical, nursing and allied health teams.
Coordinate multidisciplinary management of complex patients.
Escalate delays in specialist review or interventions.
Patient Experience & Communication
Drive initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and communication.
Ensure timely, clear communication with patients and families.
Review patient feedback and complaints, initiate corrective actions.
Performance Management, Data & Strategic Reporting
Monitor inpatient performance against clinical, operational and financial indicators.
Provide timely data and reports to management.
Support financial sustainability through efficient resource utilization.
Education, Training & Professional Development
Coordinate structured learning for interns and postgraduate trainees.
Identify competency gaps and coordinate training interventions.
Promote continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.
Corporate Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with governance policies, laws and regulatory requirements.
Participate in audits and implement recommendations.
Prevent and report suspected fraud or misconduct.
Theatre Operations & Performance
Monitor Theatre and Cath Lab activity and efficiency.
Review causes of cancellations and coordinate corrective actions.
Clinical Responsibilities
Undertake clinical duties and on‑call responsibilities.
Provide support in complex and high‑risk patient situations.
Maintain professional registration and certifications.

Person Specification
Bachelor’s degree in medical science.
Valid Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists Board License (KMPDB).
Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certification.
Minimum 3 years’ post‑internship experience.
Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or leadership.
Training in quality improvement, patient safety or clinical governance.
Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, supervision and inpatient service delivery.
