Avenue Healthcare Inpatient Team Leader Jobs in Kenya; Provide clinical and operational leadership across Inpatient Services, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and efficient patient care, effective patient flow, optimal utilization of resources, strong multidisciplinary coordination, achievement of performance indicators, and continuous improvement in outcomes and patient experience. Direct leadership of inpatient medical officers’ team.
Key Responsibilities
Inpatient Clinical Operations & Patient Flow
Oversee inpatient wards, Theatre, and Cath Lab operations.
Coordinate multidisciplinary management of complex patients.
Monitor admission/discharge TAT, ALOS, transfers, and ICU/HDU escalations.
Resolve bottlenecks and escalate operational risks.
Theatre & Cath Lab Operations
Monitor utilization, cancellations, delays, turnaround times, and complications.
Review causes of cancellations and coordinate corrective actions.
Facilitate coordination between specialists, medical officers, nursing, and support services.
Clinical Quality, Patient Safety & Governance
Monitor clinical quality and patient‑safety metrics.
Ensure incidents and near misses are reported/escalated with RCA/CAPA closure.
Review quality reports, lead QIPs, and participate in governance committees.
Mortality & Morbidity Management
Identify and present cases for M&M review.
Monitor trends and ensure recommendations are actioned.
Escalate unexpected deaths for review and ensure accurate documentation.
Clinical Standards, Protocols & Documentation
Ensure compliance with protocols, guidelines, and hospital policies.
Ensure completeness of documentation (admissions, progress notes, discharge summaries).
Escalate deteriorating patients and enforce infection‑control standards.
Medical Team Leadership & People Management
Lead and performance‑manage medical officers.
Ensure staffing coverage, manage overtime/locum spend.
Identify training gaps and coordinate development.
Drive staff engagement, recognition, and accountability.
Specialist & Multidisciplinary Coordination
Facilitate collaboration between medical officers, specialists, nursing, and teams.
Escalate delays in specialist review and resolve barriers.
Support specialist‑led service‑development initiatives.
Patient Experience & Communication
Monitor patient‑experience performance.
Ensure timely communication with patients/families.
Resolve complaints and ensure privacy/confidentiality.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
Provide daily performance reports highlighting risks and delays.
Monitor performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
Provide regular reports to Clinical Operations Manager.
Corporate Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with governance policies and regulatory requirements.
Participate in accreditation and audit activities.
Clinical Responsibilities
Undertake clinical duties and on‑call responsibilities.
Provide clinical support/escalation to medical officers.
Maintain professional registration, licensing, and competencies.
Key Deliverables
Safe, high‑quality clinical care and efficient patient flow.
Effective oversight of performance, quality, and patient safety.
Timely closure of incidents and RCA/CAPA actions.
Compliance with standards, protocols, and documentation.
Effective leadership and performance management of medical team.
Strong specialist collaboration and improved patient experience.
Delivery of measurable improvement initiatives and timely risk escalation.
Person Specification
Bachelor’s degree in medical science.
Valid KMPDB licence.
Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certification.
Minimum 3 years’ post‑internship experience.
Experience in clinical leadership.
Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management/leadership (advantage).
Training in quality improvement, patient safety, or governance (advantage).
Demonstrated multidisciplinary healthcare leadership.
