Avenue Healthcare Inpatient (IP) Pharmacy In Charge Jobs in Kenya
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the facility has all necessary equipment and that they are in good working condition.
Ensure timely, accurate, and 100 % billing of drugs; liaise with reception/invoicing clerk for manual recording when the system is down.
Label and counter‑check all processed prescription orders before dispensing.
Adhere strictly to insurance exclusion lists.
Ensure Pharm‑Tech informs doctors of equivalent alternatives for out‑of‑stock medication and amends prescriptions accordingly.
Maintain optimal stock levels through daily counts, spot checks, and monthly stock‑takes; report variances and expiries promptly.
Prevent medication errors by verifying prescriptions for doses, allergies, patient identification, and legibility.
Capture all stock movements in the HIS in real time, including goods received, returns, petty‑cash purchases, and inter‑branch transfers.
Dispense DDA drugs per policy, check weekly, and report discrepancies to the Pharmacy Manager.
Generate and send LPOs to suppliers; verify deliveries and ensure expiry dates exceed six months or have a Letter of Undertaking.
Enter invoices accurately into the hospital system and dispatch to Finance by month‑end.
Maintain a neat, organized, and presentable pharmacy workspace.
Chart fridge temperatures twice daily and report anomalies.
Escalate urgent out‑of‑stock items and quality concerns to the Pharmacy Manager.
Manage drug/surgical item expiries through weekly checks, FIFO/FEFO, and proper documentation and disposal per PPB regulations.
Ensure emergency trolley is stocked and expiry‑managed.
Adhere to Avenue corporate governance policies; prevent, detect, and
report fraud or criminal activity.
Implement audit recommendations and achieve satisfactory ratings.
Record and report sentinel incidents/events within 24 hours.
Maintain infection‑control standards during extemporaneous preparations.
Ensure client satisfaction through quality service, communication, feedback, and escalation of unresolved issues.
File standardized patient satisfaction feedback for measurement and improvement.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Ensure adequate knowledge of all Avenue policies, procedures, and systems.
Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description.
Person Specification
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
Licensed Pharmacist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) with a valid practising license.
Minimum 3 years’ experience, including at least 1 year in supervision.
Strong organizational awareness and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and reliability skills.
