APHRC - Qualitative Field Interviewers - Jobs in Kenya

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.

APHRC invites applications for qualitative field Interviewers, in its Calculus of Sex research project, being conducted in Mombasa and Bungoma Counties.

The main aim of the project is to assess the effect of the MSK project intervention aimed at reducing unplanned adolescent and teenage pregnancy and school dropout rates in Bungoma and Mombasa County in Kenya.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
  • Candidates with a background in social studies, education, or social work preferred
  • Experience in qualitative data collection.
  • Experience working with schools and teachers
  • Be a resident of or have a good knowledge of Mombasa or Bungoma
  • Must be fully available throughout the data collection period and able to work in the data collection sites, i.e. Mombasa or Bungoma
  • Ability to speak the Kiswahili and the local languages (i.e. Luhya)
  • Previous engagement with APHRC will be an added advantage

    Main Duties:
  • Identify data collection centers
  • Identify respondents who meet
    the defined criteria
  • Obtain consent from the parents and assent from adolescents to be interviewees
  • Maintain standard procedures in conducting the interviews and recording responses
  • Take care of all devices provided during fieldwork.

  • The successful candidates will be engaged for a period of about two months.
