APHRC Policy Research Assistants Jobs in Nairobi - Kenya

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, nongovernmental organization committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub Saharan Africa.



APHRC seeks to fill the position of a Research Assistant in the Policy Engagement and Communication Division. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to demonstrate ability to be independent and innovative in thought, and have ability to analyze qualitative data and macroeconomic policies within APHRCs’ signature issues.


The successful candidate will be working under the guidance of the policy analyst and policy manager.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Plan and participate in one-on-one meetings with identified key internal technical persons, and make follow-ups on the action points.
  • Draft meeting reports capturing key discussions and action points and transcribe interview notes
  • Support in analyzing policy recommendations in all APHRC’s research outputs including policy briefs, technical reports and media reports
  • Support in analyzing policies, government directives and strategies in APHRC’s signature issues
  • Contribute in developing APHRC’s policy analysis framework, including strategy and policy monitoring tool
  • Perform other PEC related duties as may be assigned


    Qualifications


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics or Public Policy or related field
  • Excellent analytical skills especially qualitative data
  • Experience in transcribing interviews
  • Experience working with research, advocacy or academic institutions will be an added advantage.
